Afroskull, the New York City superfunk ensemble, will be playing a special show at the Parkside Lounge in Manhattan on Thursday, September 11th, 2003. All proceeds from Afroskull's set will be donated to the Paul J. Battaglia Memorial Scholarship Fund. Paul was a friend of Afroskull who worked in the World Trade Center. Afroskull's set begins at 9pm. The Parkside Lounge is at 317 E. Houston St. between Avenue B and C. The band will be collecting a suggested donation of $10, which will be donated in full to the scholarship fund.

Afroskull formed in New Orleans in 1997 and have been developing a heavy blend of funk, rock and jazz ever since. After several national tours, the band relocated to New York in 2002, and is now delivering the finest funky music to the world's greatest city.

Following Afroskull's set, trombonist Clark Gayton will appear with his band. Clark is well known for his work with the Mingus Big Band, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Prince, the Count Basie Orchestra, and many others. Clark's set will begin at 10:30pm.
