This summer Sound Tribe Sector 9 and The String Cheese Incident will be hosting Conscious Alliance food drives at all of their summer shows. There will be free event posters (specific to each leg of the tours) for every fan who donates 10 non-perishable food items, of which organic food donations are especially encouraged! Donations will be collected at every STS9 and SCI show this summer, as well as the Adirondack Mountain Music Festival, the Creekside Jamboree, and Berkfest. To help reach food donation objectives, STS9 will be giving away posters, signed by the entire band, to every fan that donates 100 cans, and SCI will be giving away signed posters to everyone who donates 350 cans!
Both bands also encourage fans to donate $1 at the official Conscious Alliance booth inside the show or festival event. Every dollar raised this summer will be matched by Rhode Island philanthropist Alan Shaw Feinstein, creator of the Feinstein Challenge. The money raised will be used for the purchase of food storage/delivery units on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, which is the poorest community in the U.S., according to recent census data.
The Conscious Alliance has collected more than 20,000 lbs. of food at concerts since March of 2002. With your help, there is no stopping this pace in the music community's fight against hunger!
