Michael Wolff returns with his world jazz funkinfusion ensemble IMPURE THOUGHTS to NYC for a four week residency at the West Bank Cafe. Michael Wolff who made his name playing with Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins, Cal Tjader, Nancy Wilson and Airto Moreira now leads this visionary group bringing jazz back into the 21st century.

IMPURE THOUGHTS includes tabla master Badal Roy, a musician that All Music Guide called "the world's leading tabla player." Roy has performed with John McLaughlin, Miles Davis, Pharoah Sanders, and Ornette Coleman through the years. Victor Jones plays drums for Impure Thoughts and has toured the world with Stan Getz and Michael Petrucciani.

“What Wolff is able to pull off rhythmically & melodically with his esteemed percussion section (including tabla master Badal Roy) propels him into the brave future of not just piano, but MUSIC itself" - Keyboard Magazine (4/03)

“Jazz pianist Michael Wolff continues to forge ahead with his favorite music, a blend of fusion and world melodies dominated by strong, seductive rhythms.” -- East Bay Express (4/03)

“Groove, Flair, Intensity – that’s what pianist Michael Wolff is after. This guy soaks up global influences and trips em off his fingers like they were his native language, giving you plenty to think and smile about in the process.” -LA WEEKLY (4/03)
