In late March, Family Groove Company began its 2003 Spring Tour, a four week run that will take the Chicago-based band as far west as Grand Junction, CO. Tackling every aspect of the music business, independent of any record label support, Family Groove Company's resume boasts a critically acclaimed studio debut aptly titled Reachin', a dynamic website averaging 200 hits per week, a vast regional network of grassroots promotional teams and, most recently, Spring Tour 2003. The band's keen business sense is overshadowed only by its unique sound, which lies between the feel-good grooves of Herbie Hancock's Headhunters and the catchy rock ‘n’ roll of The Beatles.

Family Groove Company is making significant waves within the underground market, rapidly becoming a mainstream force that has come to be known as the "jamband" scene. With each member of the band playing a vital musical and business related role, Family Groove Company manages to handle its own booking, marketing, album distribution, and multi-media development. The band has developed a grassroots promotional network that is quickly spreading its music across the country, planting the seeds for a thriving fan base in towns the band has not yet even visited. FGC is no doubt a noteworthy example of the drastic changes that have occurred in the world of independent music.

With respect to its sound, FGC has avoided the ubiquitous jamband formula of the hip-hop/funk/rock groove combined with endless guitar solos, and has managed to supplement its passion for improvisation with a fierce attentiveness to composition. As far as Family Groove Company is concerned, compositional coherence and ingenuity are every bit as important as the "jam" that has come to be the namesake of its genre. FGC's songs reflect elements of rock, funk, and jazz, and even a cursory listen to the material will reveal an uncompromised commitment to the groove. Tight vocal harmonies and a passionate pursuit of adventure through improvisation are the threads that tie the band’s sound together.

Family Groove Company is a young, energetic band with engaging material, and offers an extremely exciting live performance. The band is a glowing example of just how much a group of musicians can accomplish in the current indie music world with little more than talent, a savvy business sense, and determination. Benjy Eisen of declares, "Family Groove Company is a band to keep your eye on. The potential is huge!"
