Now, after nearly eight months of trying to bring Das Rut to San Francisco... Finally
the respective schedules of the individual members have allowed for the Boom
Boom Room to coordinate their debut appearance in the Bay Area! This is an
extremely unique two night run of shows, and a rare opportunity for music lovers in the Bay Area!
Fusing together members of Seattle's up-and-coming premiere soul-rock group
Maktub, the exploratory groove trio Rockin' Teenage Combo and the funk
driven soulbeat of Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, the result is the scorching
original sound of Das Rut.
This is a combination on fire. Their music is a collaboration of soul,
trip-hop and experimental funk that continues to pack houses in Seattle’s
underground clubs. Large, diverse crowds of music lovers and growing
numbers of new fans converge on the scene to experience this sensational
band called Das Rut. So eclectic and diverse is the scene that twirling
dancers share the floor with DJ clubbers. The music strikes heavy and feeds
the mind, body and spirit in a universal soul sense that it is fundamentally
irresistible: thick, bottom beat, live house, trip-hop, soul and funk
rhythms so melodic and groovin’. The Das Rut momentum is growing, and the word
is out! Now, almost everyone in the Seattle music scene is hip to this
phenomenal collaboration.
What you can expect from Das Rut: an elated, body
movin', super soul, neo-funky musical experience. And it’s always something
different, something spectacular. The fact is, no one knows what the band
might play on any given night. Das Rut is an improvisational group that
creates new dance grooves with fresh riffs and instrumental stretches that
fill out a trip-hop soul sound… And, it’s completely on the fly!
