After a busy summer that brought them to several Northeast venues, and festivals as far away as Ohio, the Gordon Stone Band has lined up a short rest, and then a number of dates in late September and early October. Joining Gordon's awesome banjo and pedal steel are Rudy Dauth on bass and Russ Lawton on drums. The band is once again intact after Russ spent the summer on yet another tour with Trey Anastasio.
With Russ away, the summer shows included guest appearances from people like Michael Daves, an accomplished and impressive musician who added guitar and mandolin to the mix. For those who missed this addition, GSB also has new live CDs available. Released through Rockslide.com, they include crowd favorites like "Sunday Driver" and "Pachysandra," as well as some more traditional bluegrass tunes. These are some of the best shows of the summer and are great fun to listen to, although they are no subsitute for the real thing. GSB is tackling some new venues this fall (including Cafe Zacquor, in my neck of the woods), so come on out and support them. Take the time, make the time, and check out the band when they come to your town.
