Music fans in New York City are in for a rare treat at the end of May. On Thursday and Friday, May 30 & 31, Tribeca Blues plays host to two very special Nights of Legends, featuring New York’s own Zen Tricksters reunited with Old and In the Way fiddle and guitar legends Vassar Clements and Peter Rowan. The hoe-down will also feature Buddy Cage (New Riders of the Purple Sage) on pedal steel, banjo virtuosos Tony Trischka and Tom Hanway, and Michael Falzarano of Hot Tuna on guitar and vocals, plus some very special guests.

Those already familiar with The Zen Tricksters’ ability to rock the walls down with their jamming originals and Dead cover tunes might not be as familiar with their love of bluegrass and Western swing music. Lead guitarist Jeff Mattson is as adept at flatpicking as he is at electric guitar. The Zens have played on several occasions with Clements and Rowan, and this group is chomping at the bit to kick it into high gear together again. "We intend to get behind and support our honored guests in the most complimentary way we know how," said Mattson.

These shows, originally planned for the week after the 9/11 tragedy and canceled for obvious reasons, have finally been rescheduled as the New York fans and The Zen Tricksters anxiously awaited all parties being available at the same time in the same place. It will be worth the wait! For further information, call Tribeca Blues (212.766.1070) or visit the Tricksters web site. Tickets are on sale at the box office, or at Ticket Web online, or by phone: 866.468.7619.
