Super Bad Sunday: Page McConnell

IVORY TICKLER EXTRAORDINAIRE!!!

Last week JamBase's weekend triple shot honored Widespread's Jimmy Herring, this week's tip o' the hat to a shred-tastic player goes to Phish's keyboard maestro Page McConnell. Since most readers are familiar with his sleight of hand in Phish, we're offering up a few tastes of what he can do with other musicians (okay, we let Trey join in on one, but who could begrudge Big Red?). Enjoy!

This is a wonderful, sinewy beast. For those wishing to take the full ride, here's parts Two, Three and Four. McConnell's playing is truly sublime on this piece.

This two-part clip features Page jamming with drummer Roy Haynes, saxophonist James Carter, trumpeter Nicholas Payton and bassist Christian McBride on Phish's "Cars Trucks Buses."
