THE GROOVE TRUST SHIFTS GEARS FOR MARCH

The Groove Trust is expanding its boundaries in the Month of March. This “Musicians Collaborative” is based on hosting evenings of music at great venues in Boston and mixing the talent of different bands. This March, it flies south for it’s New York City premier event. The grassroots effort teams up with Velour Presents to throw the first Groove Trust evening at Tribeca Blues in Manhattan on March 28th.

The evening has just shifted into high gear at their continuing residency at Harper's Ferry in Boston; their recent schedule is full of big-name side-projects and east-coast touring jambands. The theory of these evenings hinges on a core band of proven players, The Groove Trust Band, and touring acts sharing the same stage. Guest bands play a full set, and then stay for a late set of collaboration drawing on the entire Boston scene as it's “Groove Trust.” Contributing members like Rob Marcher of Addison Groove Project, members of Miracle Orchestra, Who's The Fat Guy?, and The Boston Horns have created improvisational engagements leaving crowds overwhelmed.

This month, the event steps into un-charted waters: The Big Apple. Velour Presents has asked the group to bring their evening of jams down to Tribeca Blues on Thursday March 28th. In response, The Groove Trust has recruited Ron Levy's Wild Kingdom featuring Fuzz of Deep Banana Blackout fame and Warren Grant (who’s played with Lonnie Smith, Albert King, and Melvin Sparks to name a few) to help bring the house down. Ron Levy, the Hammond B-3 virtuoso, has recently been tearing up the North East with varying line-ups of talented and impressive players, and this show will be another great night.

Coming Shows to catch in Boston include March 3rd, when the Uncle Sammy side-project Double Helix stops in for a full set and sit-ins before returning on tour, and St. Patty’s Day when The Jinx Motive swings in to help celebrate.
