All-Star Reggae night in Boston, Friday Feb.
15th
Members of Joint Chiefs, Pressure Cooker, Miracle
Orchestra and Burning Spear unite for a night of
Reggae at the Lizard Lounge.
The deal:
On Friday February 15th The Reggae Goldies and Mang
Dub perform at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge
Massachusetts. The Reggae Goldies is a collaboration
of two of Boston's best reggae groups, The Joint
Chiefs and Pressure Cooker. The Goldies perform a
great blend of fun classics spanning several eras of
Roots Reggae.
Mang Dub makes a rare appearance on Friday as well.
Mang Dub, with its
sparse pulsating grooves and come-and-go layers, is
the true dub experience. Held together by
synth-bassist JMARR (Burning Spear) and Keys Wizard
SteveD, Mang Dub has released two full albums and has
a third on its way. The drum chair is usually held by
Tommy Benedetti of John Brown's Body, but will be
filled in on this evening by Bill Carbone (Miracle Orchestra, et al).
Mang Dub will also be joined by
Jamaican Vocalist Extraordinaire "Journalist" who adds
his own skewed take on the Reggae Tradition to the
mix.
The show begins at 10pm with Mang Dub and is 21+. The
Lizard Lounge is located at 1667 Mass Ave in Cambridge
MA.
