After a weekend of partying your face off in the heart of New Orleans, it might be advisable to head out to the West Bank on Monday night and check out some grooves that will feed your head and shake your butt.

Frequent readers of JamBase are no doubt familiar with The Slip and their slippery musical dexerity. It is common knowlege that the Barr brothers and Marc Friedman can throw down some serious music. What makes this particular show exciting is the presence of the Brotherhood of Groove on the bill and the fact that Mardi Gras energy will be running like a gaping open current throughout the event.

Both The Slip and BOG have distinctive sounds, jazzy influences, shredding guitarists, and an openness to improvisation and taking chances. One can only hope that Old Point Bar patrons will see some cross-pollination between the bands as Lundi Gras slams into Fat Tuesday.
