Mardi Gras in New Orleans is often regarded as the most wild and crazy party in all the land. A time when inhibitions leave us and Bourbon Street is flowing with thousands of people in search of the ultimate beaded adventure. Let us not forget, of course, the music behind the city of New Orleans!

Tipitina's presents a rock solid lineup for Mardi Gras 2002 featuring great New Orleans favorites and a few out of town surprises. Carlos Washington & Giant People (Washington formerly of Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe) will kick-off the festivities on Wednesday, February 6th bringing their west coast soul to the Crescent City and will be joined by local funk collective Cronk.

On Thursday, February 7th Austin-based singer/songwriter Robert Earl Keen returns to Tipitina’s in support of his release Gravitational Forces. Austin rockers Reckless Kelly will open the show. Friday, February 8th there is no faking the funk when New Orleans local horn blowers, the Rebirth Brass Band take the stage along with swampy bluesman John Mooney and Bluesiana. Saturday, February 10th the Night Tripper is coming back home to cure your ills when Dr. John takes the stage in support of his newest effort Creole Moon. Cyril Neville & The Uptown All-stars will open the show with their fiery bayou funk. On Sunday, February 11th The Radiators will rock the house maintaining 24 years of performing and counting with no signs of slowing down. The up and coming Forgotten Souls Brass Band led by veteran sousaphonist Kirk Joseph will open the show. Finally, fresh off their successful Freezestyle Tour Galactic will light the fuse of their fifth annual Lundi Gras celebration at the original Tipitina’s. Rock steady sensation 007 featuring Jeffrey Clemens (G. Love) and Joe Cabral (The Iguanas) opens the show. Also, start the Bacchus and Orpheus parades off at Tipitina’s at 2 PM Sunday and Monday with the Lil Rascals Brass Band.

House of Blues is hosting a ton of great music this week as well as Grant Green Jr. starts it off on Tuesday, with Gov't Mule taking a two night stand on Thursday and Friday. The Neville Brothers will be around next weekend for two evenings on Sunday, February 10th and Monday, February 11th!
