The Drones Announce U.S. Tour Dates

The Drones
Melbourne’s indie rock outlaws The Drones will be embarking on a brief U.S. tour this September, with stops in New York, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. They will also be playing the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in upstate New York. Their latest album, Havilah, was released earlier this year.

Havilah, like everything The Drones have done, is an album of contradictions, where bombast meets beauty, melancholy wrestles with violent guitars and singer Gareth Liddiard‘s incendiary voice. Liddiard’s angular poetry on Havilah covers a range of topics including the moon, divorce and the acquisition of godlike powers. It’s an album that’s brimful of the innovation and artistic integrity that has made The Drones one of Australian rock’s most critically acclaimed acts during the past four years.

Praise for Havilah:

“Havilah broadens the Drones’ sonic palette and continues to carve out a sound that is uniquely theirs.” – Pitchfork

“Sidewinding bass lines and slashing guitar help pull together ballads of marital woe, epic rock, and rousing takes on regret.” – Spin
