In what is shaping up to be an enticing weekend, Milwaukee's groove hungry music fans will have a feast this Friday and Saturday. Madison's improvisational outfit Del Mar will perform a free two-set show at Onopa Brewing Company, on Friday January 18th, 2002. The following evening will feature the Chicago-based livetronica quintet La Makita Soma at Thai Joe's.

Interlobate Productions is proud to present this 2 Night Musical Experience. The event will transform two of Milwaukee's best live music venues into an aerobic dancehall. Musically, the nights will differ considerably - Del Mar has a roots approach to the groove, while La Makita Soma builds their sound upon house and techno beats. Each night will boast the kind of experience that today's progressive fans love to see; intelligent lighting, projections, performance art, creative decor, and of course, music for your head.

With a successful 2001 behind them, Del Mar is eagerly anticipating the potential of this New Year. After a busy fall run of shows which took the band to some of the area's larger venues such as: Chicago's Cubby Bear, Madison's The Annex, and Milwaukee's Thai Joe's. This spring will find Del Mar traveling outside of the Midwest reaching a new fan base. Fridays show will be Del Mar's first performance since their 3 set New Years blow out at Ken's Bar & Grill in Madison. Showtime is 10:00, admission is free!

Things will get a little more transient when La Makita Soma heads into town on Saturday night to headline a show at Thai Joe's. Their latest release, Brighton Park, is a cosmic mix of electronica, dub, and instrumental rock. In it's six weeks on the CMJ 200; Brighton Park peaked at # 77, and continues to receive airplay in several markets. Not only is the band turning heads in the college indie rock scene, they have also gained attention in the jam rock community. Fans have described La Makita Soma's sound as an, "Avant-garde disco burrito." Also on the bill is Milwaukee's Electro Rockers 1881, and Madison's DJ Rick S. Music starts at 10:30, $5.00 cover.
