Gordo, Béla, Keller, Sco On: Assembly of Dust's New Album

Assembly Of Dust's Deft Songcraft On Display On New Album Out July 21
Some Assembly Required Showcases Versatile Songwriter Reid Genauer, All Star Cast Lends A Hand

Assembly Of Dust
Out July 21 on Missing Piece/Rock Ridge Music, Assembly of Dust's Some Assembly Required contains the strongest collection of songs the group has created to date, each expertly crafted tune illuminated by a stellar lineup of guests. Every musician recruited lends their considerable talents in service of band leader Reid Genauer's skillful compositions, an inspired, inventive and spirited version of American rock and roots music.

Critical kudos have been bestowed upon Genauer and the band, ranging from The New York Times to the Village Voice, who hailed him as "an articulate songwriter with a sturdy, well-crafted song cycle of an album as proof," and a delivery that "fleshes out the tunes like a good movie can elucidate a short story." Assembly of Dust also has a large and rabid following, regularly selling out NYC's Bowery Ballroom, Boston's Paradise and San Francisco's Independent, as well as performing at major festivals like Bonnaroo.

Each of Assembly of Dust's songs are realized with an ace band - Genauer on vocals and rhythm guitar, lead guitarist Adam Terrell, bassist John Leccese and drummer Andy Herrick - and a diverse collection of collaborators (including Béla Fleck, David Grisman, John Scofield, Mike Gordon, Richie Havens, and Martin Sexton). Highlights include opener "All That I am Now," with Genauer trading verses with Havens over a galloping, insistent beat and swirls of psychedelic guitar, the "Strawberry Fields"-esque "Arc of the Sun," the aching beauty of "Light Blue Lover" with Genauer backed by the supple harmonies of Grace Potter and the guitar work of Tony Rice, and the country shuffle of "Leadbelly," enhanced by the masterful pedal steel of Jerry Douglas.

Some Assembly Required Track List:
1. All That I am Now - featuring Richie Havens
3. Pedal Down - featuring Zach and Andrew Gabbard (Buffalo Killers)
4. Cold Coffee - featuring David Grisman
5. Arc of the Sun - featuring Mike Gordon
2. The Second Song - featuring Keller Williams
6. Light Blue Lover - featuring Grace Potter and Tony Rice
7. Edges - featuring Béla Fleck
8. Leadbelly - featuring Jerry Douglas
9. Borrowed Feet - featuring John Scofield
10.Revelry - featuring Martin Sexton and Tony Rice
12.High Brow - featuring Al Schnier
13.You Lay The Dust - featuring Jeff Pevar

I'm not gay, but if I had to........I would let AOD do me.

This band is INCREDIBLE, they stand for nothin but great times, tasty licks, and the best vocals you'll find in just about any band today.

What a great choice of musicians. I'm sure the release of this album will lead to a very successful year for AOD, they deseserve it...And I'm sure if their sharing a bill with any of the those guys (Keller, Sco, Gordon) at a festival, it will make for some serious jams...

These guys put on one of the best shows out there. I love Gathering of the Vibes, because you get to see AOD and still get to see Strangefolk. Reid is amazing, and my only complaint with AOD is that I have been a Strangefolk fan since their beginning. It is always a treat when Reid gets the old band back together

DAMN, didnt see this coming. i feel out of the loop in Denver. it seemed like the band was falling apart again. to say the least i am psyched for this new offering. nate needs to get back on the bus, wtf!

SO PSYCHED! AOD puts out consistently great material, and every single live show is amazing. I miss Nate. A LOT. But with Adam in the lead for all the jams, the band has taken on a whole new dynamic, and it's not all bad. Adam has always been one of those guitarists that could get inside my head and just take me on his trip. He's one of these great bandleaders that could guide the band in a whole new direction, but gently. Without "grabbing the bull by the horns," you know?

Reid's "Lore" and "Weightless in Water" from the Strangefolk days are 2 of the greatest albums ever! I highly reccomend them......... I will definitely be buying this album on July 21.

Awesome news! So did Nate Wilson leave the band? I saw them in October and he was playing with them. Can anyone elaborate on when and why he left?

Nate is "officially" out of the band, though I have a feeling he'll find his way back eventually. His last show with AOD was 12/31/08. Why? Nobody really knows, but he probably left to peruse his solo project, "The Nate Wilson Group." He's also done a few jazz shows under the "Nate Wilson Jazz Group" moniker. Those shows are AWESOME. If you like AOD, you should also check out The Ryan Montbleau Band.

just reading this randomly cause i aint never heard this band none. Jerry Douglas on pedal steel? are they sure they dont mean resonator? i mean that would be sick if he played the holy steel, but as far as i know he only plays dobro...anyone care to correct me?
