^^^^So u would rather this amazing person remain depressed instead of be happy? Then maybe the music would still be good right? But really u just think your cool because you supposedly listened to modest mouse when they first started. UR A TOOL, I should find out where u live jus to go beat ur dirty ass up, u douche.

Modest Mouse was, and STILL IS amazing.

wharfrat, i agree with you that the emotion isnt quite there anymore. thats the worst part about a lot of these punkish indie rock bands. thier music is really great and hits your emotions at certain parts of your life. what happens is these artists grow up. they grow up and usually their music grows up and changes. you cant stay a pissed off drunken, tweeker forever and be in the music business. modest mouse is a great band. they are just missing the raw emotion that once was. ( lonesome crowded west, moon and antarctica, etc.)

besides that, i'd like to see them tour some smaller venues. i heard they were opening at verizon wireless ampitheater for some bullshit act. that really pissed me off. their music is not for that type of venue. all in all, looked like a good show and good setlist. keep it real.

thats why the jam scene will forever flourish. i doubt issac brock will be playing the view when he is 60. indie rock dies oout. jams last forever.

What some people dont seem to understand about most bands and especially bands like modest mouse is that they progress as musicians; and just like you their lives change, changing their sounds, influences, and vibes. If you loved their early stuff (like i do) than you should be able to appreciate (even if you dont like) their newer stuff. Its not like modest mouse cant write angry hard music like the old days, because they have most definately improved as musicians. The sound you hear is the sound they want you to hear.

oh i almost forgot.. even if they are fat and contempt, then kudos for not putting on fake faces to write new angry music.

Modest is easily one of my favorite bands. There last CD was a litte to commerical or radio friendly for me, but i still liked it. i do understand why people love their early stuff, instead of their new stuff, I get it, but I like it all. The setlist here is really good, and I would have loved to been there for that show.

I always thought what made Modest Mouse good were the dynamics within each song, both instrumentally and vocally. They've still got that even on the most recent album. So I really like the modest mouse of new and old.

However, some color commentary around their playing in this article would have been nice.
