I have been to this festival for the past 4 years and it is actually quite a safe haven from authority. Moab is a very liberal area, and with the festival being far removed from society it is left alone. The vibe is rather amazing actaully, lots of goodies in the desert, cant beat that. I guess Derek Trucks says it best, to hear Mr. Trucks thoughts check out the festival teaser video on the homepage of www.desertrocks.org. Surrounded by a truly amazing Desert setting, I have had nothing but mind blowing celestial experiences at this festival!

Wow! Excellant lineup, yet, for Desert Rocks! Totally psyched for The Mother Hips and ALO...and others. Hey Jambase...it's "Band of Annuals"...not Animals. They are an awesome SLC band!

Tha Alkaholiks? awesome! haven't heard from those dudes in years. last thing I heard they toured with the kottonmouth kings like 10 years ago... probably hurt their street credit to do that. maybe they are just now recovering from that bad career move.. haha...

it sure is a shame that utah's great land is controlled by a bunch of crazies, i guess the same applies for the U.S. as a whole, just more so in utah...

You would think a festival in the dry desert would have drinkable, potable water. That was not the case when I went this festival last year.

After going to and performing at, these Desert Rocks guys need to work on paying their musicians from past years, and like another patron commented, providing what they say they will provide starting with.... DRINKING WATER... not from a construction truck that reads "NON POTABLE" and the right number of Port O Jons. to avoid the SECOND day SHIT overflow!!!

It is understood that a crack down will be taking place at this festival...

Over the wire this "fest" is considered one of this years check points for vanity drugs...

Ya'll saw what happened with the opening weekend of PHISH shows...

Consider this a stay out of jail warning, stay out of MOAB during that weekend.

DEA and ATF will be present with local law enforcement...

I AM GOING TO THE SASQUATCH FESTIVAL! comparable in price considering the line up and professionalism of their festival! check it out... http://www.sasquatchfestival.com/

see ya at "The Gorge" in "George."

Quoted for truth. At least in '07, I have personal knowledge of multiple bands being screwed out of payment after making the long drive to the festival. I'd never go back, or support the promoters.

Fatty Festival, Home Sweet Home, I always been paid when I play there, I always have access to water, but I do bring my own supply, along with everything else I need to survive in the desert for a few days/nights, (which is suggested in the info about the show on their websites, myspace, flyers, posters, etc.) The Festival is all Heart and I am proud to be involved with it. Do yourself a favor and come to this old-school styled phamily event. A festival gives what you give, I'm sorry if you had a negative experience, but you have to look for a hard time to find it @ D- Rocks.

Much Love,

The shows are 10 miles out of moab- there was zero police precence-and all the folks from salt lake were so kind and giving- The festival is ON A CLIFF! I will always rock the desert rocks but this year we are gonna rock.................Mcdowell Music fest in phoenix.......New riders, hot tuna, spearhead, flaming lips- smart folks well see you there

I can not wait for this event. I have talked to several bands that have played before and all said it was an amazing experience with promoters and fans and that the scenery simply can't be beat. Lots of new acts added...check out the website. JUNO WHAT, MAGICGRAVY, etc.

We are bringing a possee out from Fort Collins, CO. About 6 hour drive - why not right. A bad ass moab festie only 6 hours away. It will be a beautiful drive, a beautiful four days of meeting people and seeing great music, and a wonderful experience.

ALO - that is enough to get me there in itself! JUNO WHAT is going to blow everyones minds. Motet will be good - wish they were not doing Herbie though - that is overplayed. MagicGravy is sick. Head for the Hills w/ Billy should be great as well as Hot Buttered Rum.

I have no idea about the rest of the lineup but hopefully I will be amazed.

I really only listen to about 75% electronic music anymore so this will be a nice change for me.

I plan on having a 30x30 late night party tent where people can come and enjoy some electronica late night from 4:00am to 5:30am or something like that.

The pictures make the place look pretty baren and all the event setup and booths and such look pretty bare bones but I suppose that is what grass roots means right.

See you all soon. Can't wait. Camp ColoBRAHdo is on the way!

P.S. HOW HOT WILL IT BE DURING THE DAY? HOW COLD AT NIGHT?

All about the Mother Hips, Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers, Big Light, and HBR. The Bay Area is where it's happening right now, and there will be no sicker place to see all that talent than in Moab!
