The standards for festivals are set SO high. If phish or the dead aren't there it's immediately criticized. We have all been so desensitized by the big names that we write off the little ones. i know i could have a good time at this gig. if you have all these high expectations they will inevitably not be met.

i like the smaller festivals w/meh headliners and kick ass smaller acts. that is the way to go, you don't like a headliner there is almost always something else going on

I'm surprised Levon confirmed for GOTV and not Mt. Jam...he rocked MJ last year and it's right in his backyard. Fingers are crossed :) This lineup looks alright, sure there is more to come.

its really pretty diffrent from 07.

deep bananna is always there.

i think the only others that were there on 07 were ratdog, aod, p-funk, maby dso

AOD and Strangefolk play the vibes EVERY year. no Reunion. Still, this is an awesome fest. Where else do you get to camp on the beach and hear live music?

john browns body, donna jean were both there in 07 as well. i love the small festivals dont get me wrong, i also love being able to drive down to CT in 3 hours from Boston but this lineup doesnt really seem worth it yet. i'd rather shell out the money for Mountain Jam than this lineup. State radio, ehhhh. moe. ehhh would have loved to see Karl Denson on the lineup w/ antibalas or budos. they just keep bringing back the same FUNK. try something new VIBES!

Buddy Guy is sure to be a treat on SUnday though! everyone who's going enjoy! as much of run down city Bridgeport is, its a wonderful place to have a festival right on the water, good camping situation as well.

You would've thought with a live webcast of the acts, they would have more than this. Headliners are meh, don't get me wrong I love Bob Weir, Levon, and moe. but there is very little to differentiate between this one and the previous years. I hope they really blow me away with some awesome artist additions and I'm not talking the Dead (which obviously isn't happening) or Phish.

I agree with nathann completely, already have my Mt. Jam ticket for less money. I'm really looking forward to catching Coheed for the first time, I know they aren't part of the "scene", but its different and I hear they put on a great show. Budos Band is good? I know they are on the same label as the Dap Kings. Going to see Maceo Parker in Philly tonight and they are opening. GET FUNKED UP!

I"ve been to vibes the past 5 years and love the vibes. I thought i liked bridgeport.. but last year was depressing.. the scene was really dirty.... tanks everywhere, drugged out thug assholes, who fill there pockets selling bunk shit. I saw a security guard make some dope head empty his pockets and the kid dropped 2 hypodermic needles on the ground (this was on shakedown!) the guard made the kid stomp on them... then he left ..that was it, they left two broken needles on the ground?!. Vibes was made for dead heads, but i feel like the location of bridgeport (the ghetto of CT) allows for ANYONE to just waltz into the venue, including crack heads and dope dealers from the streets who never even heard of the grateful dead. Security was very weak last i year.. robberies and fights..I love vibes and have hope for it I just wish they had a little more security and ALOT more good vibes from the people.... people need unite and get down respectfully, please.

The vibes is the best ever. Jerry bird is out of his mind. I have talked to hundreds of people and none of them had a bad time. In fact everyone was dosed and no one was having a bummer trip. Vibes is the best festival with the best people, but this lineup is weak. It was weak 2 years ago when it was the same. I may go because of how cool everyone is.

WU tang is for thugs Widespread is for alcoholics, and Girl talk is for people who like bands they've never heard of.

moe., the WMDS, jj grey & mofro, deep bananna blackout, p-funk, p groove, lettuce, john browns body!!!! i don't know why mr. jobangles is pitching a 1/2 shitty dream line-up that would probally cost $300+ to go to. this fest looks great, but i don't think i can make it, i live in FLA and am goin to see too much phish this summer.

I guess this makes the rumors of a Dead Summer tour true. I remember reading a thing about Phil taking the summer off to spend time with his kids since one of them graduated. Maybe that's why we only see Ratdog dates at festivals and not Phil and Friends. It sucks, but I guess the rumors are becoming reality. I was really hoping for the Dead to sign up for the Roo, that way we can have not only have a Phish reunion, but also the Dead in the same weekend, what a blast that would've been. As for this festival, it's always a nice little gem...the lineup does look like the same as it's been the past few years, but who cares, it's still a great line-up for a DEAD festival. It would be better though if the Dead could just do this one festival, if they were to choose any to get together at, since this is based off of them.

Damn PGroove has fallen off... I remember when their name would be AT LEAST half way up the bill, but 3rd from the bottom, that's usually the spot for the local acts. Sad days... Few bands work harder than these guys, would love to see them have a resurgence.

It's a dead family convention, and as the name implies, it's about the vibes. I agree with that guy up top about being desensitized by the big names. People seem to forget about the vibes. The dead family has been keepin' it real since before people knew the difference between real and... uh not real, or whatever. Let's keep the faith.

as for wookies, I don't really know about that, I haven't traveled very far from planet earth in quite a few lifetimes. I wouldn't even have a lightsaber to protect myself...oh wait, maybe that's why I need a wookie, in place of the lightsaber? Chewy may not have been able to articulate very well, but is it really fair that we tarnish his good name by comparing him to what I like to call "douchebags"? You see, douchebags already have a bad name, so no harm no foul, eh? Now that's what I call going off on a tangent.

I don't care where in the list they put these guys, one of the brightest and most original acts on that lineup is easily the Montbleau Band. Now if we could only get the Nate Wilson Group added with their unique blend of psychedelic rock, I'll be stoked.

this is a list of bands i would absolutely like to see, but i feel more attached to last year's line-up....granted this is not ALL the bands, and last year was a phenominal experience for me so im being biased...but i mean...i would prefer phil to bob, and i would love to see umphreys and PBS back in the mix...the dead is asking a bit much so i wont go there. but some of the artists further down are nice surprises...lettuce, pgroove, max creek, fuck yeah! i just want to see a couple more clutch names at the top of the list.
