Prefuse 73: New Album

Prefuse 73
Guillermo Scott Herren aka Prefuse 73 is set to release his first album in nearly two years, Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian, available worldwide April 14, 2009 on Warp Records. The album will be available in CD and digital formats. Ampexian's first single, "Preparations Kids Choir," is currently available as an MP3 stream at RCRD LBL. The track will also be available on his forthcoming EP, The Forest of Oversensitivity, due out Summer 2009 on Warp. There will also be a major announcement regarding Prefuse 73's summer 2009 tour shortly.

Herren is nothing if not proven. In the past year alone, Prefuse 73 has been asked to remix TV On The Radio, Pelican, BLK JKS and Cornelius, not to mention his early collaborations with School of Seven Bells and Battles. These interactions have helped to shape the evolving Prefuse 73 sonic aesthetic, which has expanded to include Herren's twisted visions of prog-rock, "machine funk" and global psychedelia.

For Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian, Herren rejected the idea of straight digital recording and instead went the much more intensive route of recording to analog Ampex tape, giving the album the sound of a lost tape of exploratory studio musicians from the not-too-distant past. In addition to the recording process, Ampexian also differs in its composition, existing as a tapestry of tracks of varying lengths and moods, albeit with a linear flow and rhythmic bump.

Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian will also mark the beginning of three-album release cycle for Herren, as he will release two other efforts in Spring 2009 under his various monikers. He follows Ampexian with his newly minted Diamond Watch Wrists's (featuring Zach Hill from Hella) Ice Capped at Both Ends LP also via Warp in April. Then in May, Herren will follow up with a new Savath y Savalas release, La Lama, on Stones Throw.

this album is really good, any prefuse fan will love it I only listened to it once so far but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say its his best work. Still tho I wont go see this guy live ever again his sets that I have seen never really caught a flow that well and he really seemed like he didnt want to be there.

You guys that say you've seen him in the last year, know that you saw him just stand there and tell some other dudes what to do. He does nothing anymore. Not knockng hte music or the record, but WTF? He did it at the Trinumeral party in Miami, then even quit early. He did it in ATL for NYE. The list goes on and on.

I'm so glad and surprised to see jambase report on this. It pisses me of that everyone know about Bassnectar, and way better artists slip by unnoticed just because he gets marketed to the hippy kids who go to festivals. As far as the live shows go I saw a good one last july in new york. Not every performance can be your best, but I have never scene Mr Herron do anything but kill it.
