Family Groove Company Tour

Bassist Janis Wallin to Tour with Steve Kimock

Family Groove Company
Arms in Music and Family Groove Company are proud to announce the Chicago quartet's 2009 Winter Tour. After a swing through the Southeast, the tour will see FGC make headlining appearances in major markets throughout the Midwest, before heading to Colorado for dates in Denver and Boulder among others.

FGC will hit some of the band’s favorite venues over the course of this ambitious tour, including Park West in Chicago (for a co-headlining appearance with Soulive), the Majestic Theatre in Madison, The Bottleneck in Lawrence, and Cabooze in Minneapolis. FGC will also make several noteworthy debut appearances in a number of prestigious venues, including The WorkPlay in Birmingham, Rhythm and Brews in Chattanooga, Vogue Nightclub in Indianapolis, and The Fox Theatre in Boulder.

The tour will begin on January 27 in Birmingham and wrap up at the end of March, at which point FGC will take several weeks off the road while bassist Janis Wallin tours as bass player for Steve Kimock's new band, Steve Kimock Crazy Engine. FGC has made the following statement:

"We are extremely happy for our bassist and dear friend Janis. We've met and performed with numerous world-class musicians over the years, and we knew it was only a matter of time before one of them took note of Janis's extraordinary talent and invited her to share it with a new audience. The Kimocks have been very gracious and accommodating of FGC's tour schedule, and we look forward to announcing plans for our spring and summer tours shortly. In the meantime, we'd like to say we're tremendously proud of Janis, and all four of us are geared up for a fantastic Winter Tour."

FGC will tour in support of two 2008 album releases - Live in Chicago, and Models and Metrics.

i just picked up one of their albums the other day and have really taken to these guys (and gal)! it's a more jazzy umphrey's kinda sound almost. i really dig it. i hate that the only date I could have caught them on has already passed. I'm sure they'll be around for a while so I'm sure I'll catch them at some point.

They are from my area, and I've seen them many many times. They deserve everything that comes to them. They are talented, and know how to hold down a venue, wether there is only 10 people or 100.

These are some great venues! I can't wait to see them at the Park West--that's an awesome co-bill. Hope to see a show review or two from the Colorado shows. Colorado is in for a treat. I'd say a Winter tour like this looks great on a resume for main stage artist at Summer Camp this year. Who's with me?

anyone remember SmellyDookie from over at etree? The guy sure loved family groove company. He also loved to troll the gd torrents saying that he used to rat out kids on th elot then laugh thinking that they were still locked up. You know...smellydookie style. Anyway...i'm smellydookie will be on family groove tour since he always raved about them in between bragging of drinking whiskey and fried chicken. Smellydookie.....

i meant to say i'm sure smellydookie will be checking this tour out, not that i'm smelldookie, which i'm not.

This article gives me one of the biggest smiles ever, been seeing them since I dunno how long at the canopy they deserve exactly what they are getting, some of the nicest most down to earth folks on the scene (not to mention they rip/jam/groove). Tear it FGC!

This band is the beezneez, period. Face melting guitar, low down dirty bass, and keys that will make you leave your seat, oh and a sick light show. Be sure to head down to some great venues to check 'em out.
