Tea Leaf Green NYE in S.F.

Tea Leaf Green Celebrate New Year's Eve In San Francisco

Tea Leaf Green
Tea Leaf Green will stay home for the holidays as they play San Francisco's Mezzanine for a two-night NYE run on December 30 and 31. The band will play three sets on New Year's starting just before midnight. This will allow folks going to earlier shows in the Bay Area to still catch two full sets of Tea Leaf beginning at 1:30 a.m. and going till at least 4 a.m. Poor Man's Whiskey will open on December 30 and Moonalice opens on NYE with Victor Vega spinning between sets.

Tea Leaf Green play tonight at (11/26) at the Highline Ballroom in New York, NY.

^ While I agree Reed Mathis is an amazing musician, TLG has been putting on some great shows this year with Steve Adams from ALO filling in on bass. I'm sure its going to be a great time! If you've never seen Poor Man's Whiskey, you're in for a treat too!

Awesome, Tea Leaf is one fire and NYE would be a hell of a show to see. Ohhh yeah String Cheese who cares really? It's not like the last year was a huge success. 2007 String Cheese was the worst shows I have ever seen, 2002 String Cheese was off the hook. 2009-2010 String Cheese not really interested. So lets focus on a good band on SCI label TEA LEAF GREEN, you fool jwatson8388

I love TLG. Can't wait. ^^Yep, moephishH2O agreed. Reed is great. Though, the shows most dear to me over the last year, Steve was on bass. (TORTUGA!)

2 sets after 1:30? this appears difficult to pass up if one happens to be in the San Fran area. numerous other shows going on around town as well (Lesh & Friends, P-Funk, Theivery Corporation). check it out.

TLG is the shit...plain and smiple. my favorite band on the scene now. Its great to see a band nowadays that doesnt rely heavily on electronica and, as far as the craft of the song goes, Trev Garrod is by far the baddest mofo goin in that department....

and conjugal burning, that's just ig'nant- do your research, bro. REED MATHIS WILL BE PLAYING WITH TLG ON NEW YEARS EVE...

JFJO is scheduled NYE in Tulsa (their hometown, and mine), so will Reed be in SF or at home this year? JFJO played a big festival here this summer and I was dismayed that Reed was not there. TLG is a great band, but I hate to see JFJO w/o Reed. I've been watching those guys since the days of the Jacob Fred trio free every Wed night at the Bowery (Tulsa, not NYC).

I guess Reed needs to get TLG to come to his home sometime so we can get a chance to see them live.

unless things changed in the past month or two, reed turned down tlg to be permanent. It really kind of blows hes not always with the Fred, the haas and raymer are at least aobut on par with him he plays circles around the rest of tlg.

It must be Reed on bass for TLG NYE since ALO is playing at the same time @ the Independent. So Steve Adams won't be available. If Reed plays JFJO NYE might we see Ben return for a night or two. Planet of the Green Love! You mean I could go see Ratdog or Phil and Friends who ever plays first then leave at 9:30 to go see ALO then leave at 2am to see Tea Leaf Green. I have to rob a Wells Fargo to be able to afford it all.

Tea Leaf Green was aweful in NYC. I love this band, but Josh has become so lazy. He didn't even play the lead on Sex in the seventies. He just leaned back on some tonal bullshit. Reed seems happy to play Ac/Dc style bass the whole night as if Frans hanzerbeak wasn't funky. Does Reed know what band he is in. Very unsettling.

They ruined my favorite song Earth and Sky so badly that I din't even recognize it until the chorus. Some redneck BS. They better shape up or their crowd will evaporate. Enough with the lazy playing. Trevor mumbles and missses he mIke half the time so you can't hear his beautiful voice. Then he shortchanges his keyboard playing. Again I love this band. I have seen them twenty times. This is the first time I have seen them in a year.

Wait until Phish comes back. Some of you need to be reminded what real jamming is all about. So lazy chord play doesn't seem genus because it is better than Gnarls barkley's weak shit.

I liked all 5 of the TLG shows I saw.

Stevie was great the one time I saw him.

and hey.. every band gets tired on the road, they cannot be

totally on fire every single time they play.

and I am sure they know when they are not clicking so well, no need to point it out..

tiredness, makes them seem lazy, when they are probably wore the hell out from the road.

BigFro-If you are going to call a show awful, please go into more detail--other than you didn't like the way they played 2 songs, and that you think they are lazy. In fact, these guy tour constantly, have added over 20 TLG songs to their "Reed-era" repertoir in the last 30 days and have begun to play new covers and covers they haven't played in a while.

Last show of an intense tour looks very solid on paper, you'll have to do a lot to convince me that it was THAT bad/lazy.

Wow, the ignorance of some posters on here is always amazing. TLG is a great band on a lot of nights. I have seen some excellent shows by them this year - Tortugas, Richmond, VA and Floydfest for starters. Both Reed and Steve do a nice job for them. Can any band be perfect all the time? Of course not, but Tea Leaf puts in excellent work frequently. Check out a few of their most recent shows on LMA from the November East Coast tour, it's good stuff.

NYE in SF is going to be EPIC. With all of the songs that they have added in the past month, plus probably a few days to practice some more. I'm expecting a lot of jaw-dropping moments. And, playing until 4am, with a DJ spinning tunes in between sets?!?!?! Oh yeah, it's on, and I'm ALL IN!

TLG= generic jam rock, just like WP, moe, etc. I see why peeps would enjoy this stuff, its just that JFJO is sooo much more original, and overall better musical experience. Different boats for different folks, my boat just delivers better visuals through amazing instrumental noise.

^^ Apparently 'To each his own' need not apply to you, Conjugal. I don't care if a band has a more 'original' sound or not. If if puts a smile on your face, don't take that feeling away from someone. I really dig JFJO. they put on a great show. But to call WSP, TLG or moe. "generic" jam rock is about the dumbest thing I've read on Jambase in a while...

how am i taking any feeling away from someone by merely pointing out that Reed's talents are expressed better in his original, better band? If you are that persuaded by my rambles that it takes a smile off of your face, well i feel bad for you in general. Its just rhetoric brah, go have a blast at all of your jamband shows that are in no way generic and dont resemble each other in any way. I LOVE IMPROVISATION... with that said Zappa knew the difference between jamming and noodling, and ill pass on the moe/tlg shows

I'm sorry if some of you hate honesty, but I re-read my first post T Ralph and there were many specifics in it. You even repeated my lazy playing critique in your post. I think I was pretty detailed. I love Tea Leaf Green and Let me repeat this for the thick skulled. This is the first time I thought the show was this bad. I have never seen a band I love not even play one decent guitar or keyboard lick in two sets of music. That is beyond bad. New York City is not the place to play that bad.

Here is what I didn't like

1. Josh is always lazy with his leads, but in New York he didn't play any. He didn't even play the lead in sex and the seventies.

2. Trevor has a beautiful voice, but he mumbles and doesn't sing into the mike. Maybe the sound guy never has him turned up enough.

3. I also thought they ruined Earth and Sky by turning it into a redneck athem.

4. I know Trevor is a better keyboard player than he played @ the Highline.

5. I know Reed can do more than just a repetitious thump thump bass with no rythm.

6. I have seen Josh play at the same level as Trey or Warren and the last two years he just plays chords and leans back on tonal sounds. That is lazy playing. I would call it noodling, but even noddlers play some leads. Josh played chords all night.

Should I shut up and watch this band just disapear from the scene. They got one show cancelled in NYC after playing and empty hall in PA. Bands get a big ego and they get lazy. Tea Leaf Green is a better band then I have seen and heard lately. I find Reeds playing insulting because he obviously thinks rock and roll is nothing more than the Stones or AC/DC and thus he simplified his playing and gave us no melody or rythm. I was excited about Reed playing with TLG. I have been bragging about it. I figured he would force Josh to get out of his lazy chord playing and show us the kind of guitar work he is capable of. Instead he has brought Reed down to his level.

Also buy a few more speakers. The place was so quiet I thought I was at a Moe show. You guys can talk all the smack you want., but give me some details as I have a SECOND TIME. ANd if your going to review a show LISTEN TO IT FIRST MORON

There are a limited number of bands I love and TLG was one of them. My girl was so disgusted by how pathetic they were that she will nevr go with me agian to see them. SHe has seen them 20 times and always loved them. half the crowd left after the first set. I choose to call it it as I see it instead of just never seeing them again.

Also T Ralph listen to a show before you proclaim it as Great. The setlist was good and it still bored me. I rarely bag a band I love. This show was beyond awful.

hey, you're crazy. Tea leaf green was great that night and the night before in New Jersey, I'm not sure they even played sex in the 70s (i was a pretty drunk) and I actually really liked the way they changed up earth and sky. seems like you might have just been in a bad mood that night...oh and string cheese is awesome.

Go down the street to see Zappa and Claypool back to back.

There's not a better NYE show going on there.

this band is amazing. If you doubt their talent download them live in L.A. on October 21st back in 2005. The best set I've seen them put together. Also you can't compare them to WSP or moe. it's just a different sound all together.
