Post-Umph Halloween in SF

Post-Umphrey's McGee Halloween Gig in S.F.
Featuring: the New Deal, Pretty Lights, James Christopher & Many More

the New Deal
Halloween is a special time of year in San Francisco. As the weather changes, so does the city's mentality - and since the festivities fall on a Friday this year, you can be certain that the city will be properly celebrating for the occasion. ArtNow SF and the Colorado-based promotions company Euphonic Conceptions have come together to form "RE:CREATION Veni Vedi Vici," one of the most innovative events to hit the Bay Area in some time. Halloween this year at Club 6 will be an amalgamation of cutting edge sounds and styles, an experience of pioneering art and music.

Headliners the New Deal, hailing from Canada, will be bringing their dance-friendly electronic tones to Club 6, offering a whirlwind mélange of break beats, techno and hip-hop. After playing a short set to open for Umphrey's McGee at The Warfield down the street, the New Deal arrives at Club 6 for what is also billed as the official "Umphrey's McGee After Party." Other acts include 3WS, featuring Ana Sia of Glitch Mob fame along with Danny Corn of Moon Tribe, and Mochipet, who was recently nominated as one of the best electronic acts in the city by SF Weekly. Pretty Lights, a fresh new product from Colorado's burgeoning electronic scene, will also be making their San Francisco debut with an eclectic array of organic down-tempo, glitch, and electro.

Some of San Francisco's premier local talent will also be performing on this bill, amongst them James Christopher, Bender, Pleasure Maker and Kap10 Harris. They are joined by over a dozen local visual artists including Matthew Scott, Julia Craig and Damien King.

With music going late into the night (or morning), "RE:CREATION Veni Vedi Vici" has the potential to be an event of epic proportions. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. For more information and tickets, visit www.going.com/newdeal31jb.

Who the hell works for jambase these days? Did Gadiel sell the site to Fox News?

Dammit! I'm going to happen to be in San Fran on Halloween, but I'm there for business, so I'm going to have to miss out. :( It's going to kill me knowing they're playing a few miles away while I'm watching Nancy Grace in my hotel room for Halloween. Grr...

I can't believe their playing a major market on a weekend. They usually save those for the college towns and the boondocks

I don't know why the jamband crowd has gotten so hateful. These are good bands, go see them. It is suppost to be about fun and dancing and friends.

I believe someone from euphonic conceptions sent in the "article" to be shown on jambase as an advertisement for the show... come on people. think about why you think jambase is always "late" on "reporting" um "news"?

quote me.

Seems like the days of these non-vocal, late 90's electronic acts are quickly coming to an end. The New Deal was solid when it was "the new deal," but so many of these acts (new deal, zilla, particle, eoto, pnuma...) sound the same and are doing the same still. There seems to be only a small handful of electronic acts that are trying to do new stuff like STS9, BoomBox, Lotus....

If by "trying to do new stuff" you mean "trying to play their songs note-for-note every night while substituting samplers and laptops for instruments" then yes, STS9 is trying to do a ton of new stuff.
