McCain benefit concerts? Haha....I haven't even seen a single McCain bumper sticker this entire election season, and I see 15-20 Obama stickers a day......and I live in a Red State.

Yet if you ask those proud bumper sticker wielding citizens just one stance and just one plan Barack has... you get silence. Newest news, Barack says he supports firing rockets into Pakistan from Afghanistan. Great. Awesome. So if you are voting for Barack because of foreign policy and peace, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do some research on his stance and plans. Pulling out of Iraq is just a ploy to continue Bush like foreign policy. And NOOO, McCain is NOT the solution.

"It is time to turn the page. When I am President, we will wage the war that has to be won, with a comprehensive strategy with five elements: getting out of Iraq and on to the right battlefield in Afghanistan and Pakistan; " http://www.barackobama.com/2007/08/01/the_war_we_need_to_win.php

Right off the man's page. This is not peace. This is not sitting down with a cup of tea and talking about our problems. Pakistan will wage war with us if we try this. And ummm ya, they do have the bomb guys. This is worse than Bush! At least we are stuck in one place for now and can't move on. He wants to bring this war that DOES NOT WORK to other Muslim countries. What is so hard to understand about this? Military presence is what is recruiting more guerrilla terrorist fighters. So unless you think more war is the way to go to fight terrorism, tell me, how can you still support this man?

I only make political comments on the political articles. I post about music on the majority of the articles, which are about music. So if you would like to talk about music, let's move over to a different article, ok?

SmashySmashy....idealistic once again. We are in a "war with terrorism"....an endless duty, whether we like it or not (those mistakes we already made). "Our country" has been interested with getting into a war with Iraq for some time now (fighting terrorists or for personal interest?!?)...mission accomplished. It is a situation that could have been handled with much more thought, tact, and concern....all of which the article you pointed out mentions. I don't think Obama got us into this mess...I also don't believe that our position in the global perspective will change if we put two fingers in the air and wave a white flag....although that would be ideal. I am all for World Peace....I am against violence and war (we all should be, although we are not). These are reasons we should vote for the candidate that will guide us with more diplomacy than we have seen in the past 8 years.

andrew bird has a ridiculous amount of talent, like 'mad scientist, not even from this planet' skills, and i've never wanted to cry while listening to his music. he's an inspiration to any creative artist working with any medium. so, i say what i most often think when i browse these comment boards - "what's up with all the ignorant haters?"

SmashySmashy

Ya Andrew Bird is incredible. I actually have tickets for one of his shows next week and I am very excited. Obviously disappointed about this news. Hopefully I can ask him why he is part of an Obama benefit and hopefully he can give me a reason why, other than it isn't McCain... like how some people on this board make irrational comments about me when I give evidence that Obama is a farce and all I ask is to explain why you would vote for him, where he really stands on the issues, and what his plans are to support his stance other than starting another war with another Middle Eastern country... Oh right, back to music. Politics aside, you should all check out Andrew Bird, a master of many instruments. Hardly EMO, wtf!

you have to remember that obama said he is very open to talking with other foreign leaders and most likely will not lead us into a war alone, also if Osama Bin Laden is hiding in pakistan like many believe and they are harboring him and protecting him there than we should take some sort of action. If he truly was responsible for 9/11, which is debatable, than we should be after him and not fighting iraq which was a complete waste of time until we get that oil from them

Mutilated Trips should be made aware that, while guster may fit the narrow-minded generalized description he made, Andrew Bird does not. Andrew Bird has more talent than anyone else out there, and his songwriting is fresh, unique and inspiring.

Here's something else about him that might ring some bells with this msg board: he hates to hear the same music over and over. Every show he plays around with the melody and rhythm of his lyrics, because unlike a lot of popular musicians, he's realized that people don't go to concerts just to hear the song the way it sounds on the album.

Fuck paying $40 bucks for this show. I saw Andrew Bird for free in Chicago. And I wrote about it :) cause it was a chill show.

Plus, who the hell are these artists in this lineup. It sounds like the cast of a shitty movie.

Smashy, you make some good points. Obama is not the perfect candidate, butI also don't recall anyone on here saying that he was. Unfortunately, it's our system that's failing and the candidates we're given to choose from are a products of the systems failure. McCain is an even worse candidate that Obama on the topics which you speak about. Do you suggest we vote for Nader or some other 3rd party candidate? Doig that the last couple of elections got us W for Pres.....yeah, not making that same mistake again. So, agreed Obama is not the perfect candidate, but considering our system and the choics we're given, he's the better choice. And god forbid something were to happen to McCain and our country be stuck with that idiot Palin leading us.

Big surprise that young, socially liberal music lovers would gravitate towards the "change, peace, prosperity for all" mantra that the Democrats put forth. But let's not be ignorant folks...neither of these two candidates represent a real move to change. While nobody on this site would ever dare support Bush or his idiotic policies, please don't assume that one party or the other is "better" for America. These four jokers who we are voting for are a product of an inherently flawed system. If we ever get the balls to support a third party, maybe the increasingly polarized society we live in will stop acting as if presidential elections are really about steak as much as they are about the sizzle....
