PARK IT IN THE GARAJ

Velour Presents is very excited to announce the next in their impressive run of magical musical experiences bringing a little West Coast gem out east for the first time.

Friday, September 28 2001
Tribeca Blues | 16 Warren St. (b/w Church and Broadway) | New York City

The autumn chill will not detract from the steamy mind grooves of Garaj Mahal blowing you away all night long. Don't delay - pick up your tickets and get ready to boogie.

For the unintiated Garaj Mahal is

Kai Eckhardt on bass (John McLaughlin, Chick Corea)
Fareed Haque on guitar (Sting, Joe Zawinul)
Alan Hertz on drums (KVHW, Steve Kimock Band)
Eric Levy on keyboards
... each a top-notch musician in his own right.

Together it's funk-fusion synergy - see the bio below as well as links to JamBase reviews and mp3's for more than enough reasons to check out Garaj Mahal in a rare east coast appearance.

Tickets are availible from JamBase Tickets now! Feel free to shoot us an email with any questions and we'll be looking forward to seeing you on September 28th.

Read on for more on Garaj Mahal...
Blue Note-alumnus guitar phenom Fareed Haque revels in dualities: both in his Pakistani-Chilean heritage and his classical-jazz-fusion leanings. As a member of this jam-supergroup (recently surfaced out of San Francisco), the Chicago-based Fareed lets his jazz hair down, riding the one-two rhythm punch of jam-drummer-extraordinaire Alan Hertz, and funk-fusion bass god Kai Eckhardt. Hertz (a perfect name for this punishing musician) is one of the Bay Area’s top skin pounders, having performed as the "H" in the now defunct KVHW, and Eckhardt is no stranger to the jam, having prodded John McLaughlin and gone head-to- head with Mahavishnu rhythmic godfather Billy Cobham. Recent addition to GM, Chicago’s-own Eric Levy joins the group on Hammond B-3, Fender Rhodes, and funk-clavinet.
