Captain Sammy

I really enjoyed the Current TV piece. Like the vibe those guys are laying down when it comes to their approach and their attitude. I just haven't drunk the Kool Aid yet when it comes to the music itself. I'll give it another chance for sure.

I wish Jesus were in MY band. But seriously these guys are cool.

I LOVE these guys! I saw them live for the first time at High Sierra, and they blew me away. Seriously, I felt like I'd had a religious experience or something. I'm expecting great things from Akron/Family!!

This was my first Ak/Fam show; it will NOT be the last. From hushed pastoral to free-jazz-like noise and countless colors in between, the exuberance which with they pull it all of is absolutely infectious. A long (20 min?), HEAVY jam about 90 min. in built to the bassist screaming into the mic in a moment of thrilling catharsis. "Can we start the fucking show now?!" he exclaimed as the drums kicked in with no pause to commence the next song. Genuine, no BS, furiously energetic - give these guys a chance live and you won't regret it.

those who hate on this band are just uninformed because once you turned that corner there is no going back.

Went into this show an A/F newbie and came out extremely surprised. They had an energy that won over the crowd instantly (whom were all there for free) and maintained it throughout the entire show. I can guarantee I'm not the only one who came out as an Akron/Family fanboy and I'll be sure to see them anytime they play in or around the big apple again...and jerryil...you're gonna be eating those MMJ words in the future.
