thing88---This website may be called, but only about half the bands covered here could be classified as "jambands"

I'm most definitely excited to see Modest Mouse at Rothbury this year. I might have to make the trip to Cincinnati too. Why don't bands come through Indianapolis more often? So sad...

Listen to Lonesome Crowded West. Its one of the greatest indie albums ever and all of the songs are pretty damn long, so one could venture and say that they are indeed a jam band.

thing88 - go out to a record store right now and purchase "the moon and antarctica." put it in your player, and prepare to melt into supreme musical perfection.

Yes. Thank you. This will make up for the time they kicked you guys off in 06 at the Bang fest in Miami bc Gnarls Barkley took too long to set up. Then they cut your set short for Duran Duran. A complete mockery. Thank you Isaac or whoever made it a point to come back to Florida. Mouse is amazing. I can't wait to see the dirty dozen brass band. This gonna be awesome.

Modest Mouse have some good tunes but their live performance is pretty weak.

Thing88 has some catch up to do. The "Dude, this site is for jambands" thing sucked 6 months ago and has not improved with age.

And MM do ROCK. Excellent live band.

i have been a modest mouse fan for a decade. their newer albums are full of bells and whistles, studio tweaks, and even the ddbb, but as a trio (and four piece when the added gallucci on guitar) they were forced to do a lot more improv and build-ups in order to keep their live performances interesting night after night, just like any "jam" band. having grown with this band, there were about 150 people at the 1st mm show i saw in bellingham, they are doing what they gotta do to go from being hometown heroes to getting national attention. it is difficult to recreate these newer songs outside of the studio, and much of their efforts have been transferred to that, in addition to having to teach johnny a bunch of songs. can't go back in time, so i'll just have to settle for what they're offering now, which is still pretty damn good.

i am right with you santacruzin, i have been with mouse since the beginning and i really think their older stuff is so much more intense and technical, with their past 2 even three albums being more of a studio polished, semi-mainstream sound...that said it's still the best mainstream stuff out there imo. i do think that their live show could be a little better ::play old songs!!!:: but they have to give the fans what they want and since they were pretty much unheard of before good news the "fans" are the people that jumped on the bandwagon a little late. how about at the mtv awards they were up for best new band when float on came out.

anyone that wants to be turned on to this band download a torrent or buy these this order

1. lonesome crowded west

2. build nothing out of something

3. interstate 8

4. moon and antartica

if you just want a song or two to see if they are your style

1. teeth like gods shoeshine

2. never ending math equation

3. interstate 8

4. jesus christ was an only child

hope i turned some of you cats on to one of the best bands out there since PHISH or string cheese or whatever you hippies call music ;]

so tired of people thinking every band should jam...sxxt even bands that jam, shouldn't jam all the jam or not to jam??? And besides, you can do great things without jamming...just listen to "Good News..." on some doses or rolls, and tell me thats not amazing. Short and tight, is way better than listening to some band in way over their head, playing some weak ass watered down do not jam just for the sake of jam. If you don't like the fact that jambase covers music, not just the dying jam scene...go somewhere else, or get over it.

When a band writes SONGS, they have longevity.
