Not sure what a keyboardless PGroove would even sound like, he's that much of their sound. Tough move, but the road ain't no place for a family man I would imagine.

Best of luck to Matt, he's a great keyboardist and a great guy--very big of him in my opinon to make this decision for the other important things in like. On that note, I hope they get a KICKASS keyboardist to take his place and bring this band to an even higher level (like Umph)-- they have enough talent and hype to really attract the attention of some amazing potential keyboardiss.

Whats up with all these smaller bands having member changes in the last couple years anyway?

Yeah, I just caught them in Denver the other day and I really noticed how big of a sound the keys were in their music.

Yeah akeay, I agree, he's a huge component of their sound. I could see them sounding a lot more like a straight up rock n roll band with brock butler tearin' it up without his fluid, sometimes ambient, sometimes light funky keyboard playin. P Groove's great, too bad for fans this guy's got a family to take care cuz he's a sick keyboardist. good for him though.

They've been in the same circuit for years. probably sick of the plateau they're on and is ready to move on to something better.

Matt did make a huge contribution to the band, and I wish him the best of luck and happiness in his future endeavors, but...this shouldnt be seen as a downfall, I'm sure the other guys can figure out how to progress their sound and grow to the next level.

Matt was the man. I can't imagine a Teakwood, Two Shores, etc. without him. It'll be interesting to see how the trio sounds

Page McConnell should play Rothbury and hook up with Pgroove

woow. there is some commenting here. I had to go to FIVE shows before they played anything worth staying for.. It was dec 2006 I think..

anyway.. they cannot live with out keys.. they would be even worse ..

and RAQ is STOOPS. or STOOPS IS RAQ,, and NO he ain't leaving them.

and.. anyway.. Brock seems kinda arrogant. He plays the same notes over and over. they have three albums in TEN YEARS. I get tired of the same songs. they need MORE. anyway.. I have seen them play well, but just that once. SAM try not to act so ugly man.. jesus...

Wow..I'm sure this was a difficult decision that wasn't made lightly, this will leave quite a void but life is all about priorities. I'm really grateful I got to see them a few times this year on the west coast and there is now even more appeal to anyone considering Amberland. These guys are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. Those of you haters and potty mouths posting here might wanna step back for a moment and think about what it takes to get up on stage, time and time again and play in front of people like you, I can only imagine the kind of energy you might excude.

Matt, you are the main reason I love this band, you will be missed!!

LOL !!!

Chill glassworks ... as funny as it sounds ... you may be correct.

We will have to see who the replacement is, if anyone.

Seeing a trio ... may be a VG P-Groove show.

They have to have an announced special guest to fill Asheville.

Rothbury = 3 diff. keyboardist

All Good = just trio + better lights

Matt, you will be missed! Thank you for all you have done, all the amazing shows, all the great memories. Hopefully there will come a time when it is fit for you to return.

That all being said, I am excited for the new chapter of my favorite band. I am ready for Amberland, to put an epic close on the very beginning of my story as a Perpetual Groove fan. Now its time to see what these guys do next.

how about Dave Brogan from ALO? Although he plays the drums for ALO, his weapon of choice is the keyboards.

Steve Molitz is the obvious choice, though.

first off, brock and the boys are anything but arrogant douches. He is probably the most humble d00d I've met so that cute little rant was totally off base sam. I agree with everyone else though: matt was a vital component of their sound. hopefully they regroup and pick up someone else on the keys because it'd be a shame to see these guys hang it up. Rothbury what what

these guys are so hit or miss i would think some kind of shakeup might motivate them to do something different. ive seen em five times and have only comeaway really impressed once. maybe this will lead to something exciting, but i'm not gonna hold my breath. i will give em another shot when they figure their shit our though. THAT BEING SAID, they're gonna be at the inaugural Vortex Festival in Asheville, that's the Civic Center date. Check it ooooooout.

Whoever mentioned Stoops from RAQ. That guy is flippin redonkulous. He like karvested the souls of the audience like the grim reaper and throws it through a voodoo-nightmare vortex through his fingers and onto his keyboard. Along with John Medeski, Jojo from Panic, Kyle Hollingsworth, maybe Page McConnel, he's one of the best live keyboardists I've ever seen. I think his style might be generally too explosive and crazy over-the-top heavy-hitting hyper-psychedelic phunk nastiness for p-groove. Not that I don't really dig p-groove but they're more mellow doobie music and Todd Stoops is like an super-electrified freak of nature. (Those we're all metaphors, he's probably a pretty chill guy).
