Rock The Bells: Tribe, Mos...

Dead Prez
Rock The Bells has established itself as a world-class hip-hop platform by hosting legendary performances. The 2007 festival series included performances by a reunited Rage Against the Machine, the Wu Tang Clan, Public Enemy celebrating their 20th anniversary as a band and many more. The tradition of top names and memorable performances continues in 2008 as the lineup and routing for this year's Rock The Bells - kicking off July 19 in Chicago - was announced today during a press conference in Claremont, CA by Chang Weisberg of Guerilla Union and hip-hop all-stars A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Raekwon, Murs, and Supernatural who are all confirmed on this summer's bill.

Featuring performances by A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Mos Def, De La Soul, Rakim, Method Man & Redman, Raekwon & Ghostface (Cuban Linx), Immortal Technique, Dead Prez, Murs and Kidz In The Hall, Rock The Bells once again is marked by the leading hip-hop lineup seen on one bill this year. This year will be highlighted with an unexpected reunion of The Pharcyde. But it does not stop there, as fans will also see performances by the brightest names in the emerging electro-hip hop scene including Spank Rock, Santogold, Kid Sister, Wale, Flosstradamus, Jay Electronica and The Cool Kids with hosts B-Real of Cypress Hill and the world renowned Supernatural.

After its July 19 launch, Rock The Bells will hit nine more North American cities on seven consecutive weekends, wrapping up in Vancouver at the end of August. 2008 also marks the first year that Rock The bells will go global with four stops in Europe and one in Japan. Highlights of the series include first time dates in Toronto, Vancouver and Philadelphia, plus a return to the Glen Helen Pavilion in San Bernardino, CA where last year's show sold out with a capacity crowd of 45,000 people. Pre-sale tickets will be available May 14-16 via, and then to the general public on May 17. Exclusive L.A. pre-sale starts on May 7-9 with on-sale to follow May 10.

Hey cutty, what's your beef with Murs? I remeber you saying somthing bad about him a while ago. He's not that bad. The Murs and 9th Wonder Cd was pretty good. Anyways ,TRIBE? That is sick. I would love to see them They should add DOOM, and Aseop.

As an avid underground hip-hop fan I feel this is a very solid lineup. I see that muffinman1 posted that they should add DOOM. I am a huge fan of the villian behind the mask, but seriously he has been doing some sketchy shit since last years lipsynching episode at the Rock the Bells last year and his supposed imposters playin 15 shows lipynching to a mic. I don't know if all this speculation regarding DOOM is true, but I do know he hasn't been heard of by the media or his fans since these episodes. Some say its entirely his health issues but I feel the villian is plotting some sketchy shit and we as fans need to resolve this issue because I have been buying his albums and have supported his whole gig for a while. Bring back DOOM, Vaughn I don't care just get mr. dumellie back in the game and make some ill ass shit. Madvillian all the way. Bring DOOM back.By the way if you are expecting a full show from DOOM, don't always expect it.

He plots shows like robberies

In and out

One, two, three, no bodies please

Run the cash and you won't get a wet sweatshirt

Can't make any of the shows but man, this lineup is sick. I might show my age a little, but Tribe, De La, Nas, Pharcyde, Rakim, Mos, Redman & Method Man?????? Now that shit will be hot!

This is a pretty sick line-up, but I agree, some of the music is too fucking elitist for me to get into. But I'll be going to the NYC show for Nas, Rakim, Ghost and Rae, Red & Meth, Mos, Tribe, and De La.

This line-up is FIRE. My rule is never fly for shows but I might have to make an exception. These are the founders, yall should recognize. They better fit the logistical problems from last year for sure

i just feel like murs is pretty lame, esp. w/out 9th wonder production. You yourself even admit they are not that bad...Plus, there are like 5 9th wonders out there. And yes, this line-up is sick. Doom sucks, i have all 12 maybe 14 of his special herbs discs, i love em, but really he just adds high hats to and drums to and speeds ups good songs. i like the fact that he has reintroduced me to a lot of tracks that i thought were cheezy at the time, but now i listen to what i like, no matter how queer they may seem. For example, his best track doomsday is a complete jacking of Sade kiss of love, which i now i will openly admitt to liking.
