Boston Summer Tour

Gary Pihl of Boston
The legendary band Boston kicks off a summer of dates that will span the United States and Canada on June 6 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The folks responsible for FM staples like "More Than A Feeling" and "Peace of Mind" will be bringing two new recruits on tour. Singer-songwriter-guitarist Michael Sweet (former Stryper frontman) and unexpected Internet phenomenon Tommy DeCarlo, the fan that posted his Boston covers on his MySpace page and ended up on stage.

With over 30 million albums sold worldwide, Boston is still as ubiquitous on rock & roll radio as they were when they were new. Coinciding with the summer tour is a fully re-mastered Greatest Hits CD on Sony Legacy. Lead-off singles from all five BOSTON albums will be included, as well as new photos from throughout the years and liner notes written by Tom Scholz.

there's 21 dates posted on their website as opposed to 9 here, don't know why they didn't put 'em all up.

Boston has so much going on that their publicist is checking websites??? I got more than a feeling that this will suck.

didn't one of the original members recently pass away? -- way too late for this money grab - imo - sorry - if it wasn't for way too much radio airplay, i would probably still like this band.

Brad Delp the lead singer died last year. Great man, I used to see him at a bar in Londonderry NH singing with a Zeppelin cover band I used to go see. Really down to earth cool fucking guy. Very sad to see him pass.

Grateful Dread

Don't get me wrong, I loves me some Boston, but this press release/tour sounds a little fishy to me.

"The folks responsible for FM staples like "More Than A Feeling" and "Peace of Mind" will be bringing two new recruits on tour."

While this may be true, they fail to mention the departure of lead vocalist Brad Delp (IMO one of the most recognizable voices of classic rock), who committed suicide about a year ago. Simply stating that they're "bringing two new recruits on tour" seems to me like one of those instances where you're not really lying, you're just not telling the whole truth either.

How often do bands with replaced lead singers really work out? It is possible, just difficult if you're a band that will most likely rely on playing the classics.

I also thought it strange to hear no mention of Brad Delp. Boston did an album with Fran Cosmo but it doesn't look like he's gonna be around either. I've seen them a few times and they don't tour often. Definitely worth seeing, but Brad Delp WAS their voice. I can't believe they picked up Michael Sweet, kinda wierd. Are they gonna play "to hell with the devil"?

BOSTON MAKES MY EARS BLEED GREEN VOMIT! One of the most over-rated bands ever! All those city and state bands: Boston, Kansas, Chicago...I clump them all into one group just so it's easy for me to remember that they're all awful! I understand, they were from a different time, a different era in music - yea a shittier one! Oh, and I forgot about Journey - in the same group of bile!

So let me hear it hippies! I'm not even one of those "Only Ump All Day or Die" hippies. These bands and their long love-ballad-anthems with heavy guitar solos just don't make me want to take my shirt off backstage for a free Bud Light and a shot of tequila.

i'm so excited about this but i can't put it to words. it's like more than emotion. It's kind of like more than words (sorry Extreme), but it's less than an outburst. It's more than awareness but less than excitement. Damn. it's like more than consciousness but less than a feeling.............someone help me out here.

This band spent so much time doing nothing for most of the 80s that they lost most of their fan base. Then when they finally came out with music, it SUCKED! What a shame, their first two albums were great.

Boston's publicist is checking websites?!?! Wow! Makes for the beginning of a very weak tour I can assure you.
