Tom Petty & Winwood Tour

Tom Petty
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers announce an upcoming summer tour that will take the band through the U.S. and Canada. The news comes as the Heartbreakers prepare for the biggest show in live entertainment, the Super Bowl XLII Halftime Show, broadcast live on Fox Sunday, February 3. All tour tickets, with a few exceptions, will go on sale February 4, the day after the Super Bowl festivities. Watched by nearly 140 million people in the U.S. and one billion in 230 countries and territories worldwide, the Halftime Show will give the world a preview of the legendary live act that will storm the U.S. and Canada in a few short months.

As in past years, the Heartbreakers will travel with a very special, handpicked support act. Previous tours have featured special guests including Jackson Browne, Pearl Jam, the Strokes, the Allman Brothers, Stevie Nicks, and others. This summer tour continues the tradition of great musical packages, with legend Steve Winwood opening every show.

No shows scheduled for June 13th and 14th. Let the Roo rumors begin. I think every band that has an open day that weekend will be there. Blah blah blah.

No Summerfest?? Petty is one of the headlining attractions at the Milwaukee fest every year. He does have an opening around the 4th, wouldnt be surprised to see him add that to his tour

Tom Petty, overrated? No way dude. Petty could come out with a quadruple CD of greatest hits and I wouldnt skip one track. And he always puts on a good live show! Plus he was the only good thing to come out of the 80's haha.

Agreed with the 80s comment. I wasn't big into him until my GF had me listen to some of his albums a few summers ago. I can't complain. And he puts on a great show, even though it's just a run down of his greatest hits. Oh well, no SPAC. i won't be seeing him

He said he was calling it a career, as far as touring, 2 summers ago! Glad he changed his mind. The man puts on a great show, and the songs never get old. That, and his most recent solo album, Highway Companion, is easily one of the best albums to come out in recent years. Cannot say enough about that album. I'm in Charleston, we'll probably drive to Raleigh for a nice show in July at Walnut Creek. Lookin forward to it.

Tom Petty is one of the best rock acts in the history of rock I don't care what anyone else says cuz I know it and if you don't then you need to revisit some of his music or watch Running Down a Dream the new documentary/concert dvd that just came out a little while ago cuz it is truly amazing and if he's at the Roo that's enough for me to go.

I wonder if Stevie Nicks will be with him again. I saw him twice two summer's ago and he played with Stevie Nicks at one of the shows. It was totally unannounced. Either way I will be catching him in both NC shows. He is the man.

man i love Tom Petty. i saw him 2 summers ago at nissan, and 3 ago at Merriwhether Post. It is always a blast, good vibes, and straight forward rock and roll. A little bit of beer in the lot, and tons of fun dancing on the inside, you got yourself a great show. even songs that are not deemed "greatest hits" it seems everyone knows the words to, always a rockin great time, and hes definitely one of those artists that brings all sorts of different people out, with all sorts of ages. i cant wait to go to this, probably with my family, and have one of those special family moments! i cant wait to call my little bro, hes 13, and has seen countless shows already, but he is definitely a die hard petty fan. I cant wait!

Bob Dylan called, he said he wants his style back. Ha Ha, just kidding around, but seriously I think Bob might have said that after Petty went on his own.

I wish he did a couple more shows in FL, but Tampa isn't too far from Orlando. According to there are at least 2 other dates upcoming (San Francisco and Denver), but venues for both are listed as TBA. I'm sure those dates will be added shortly once they have secured a venue.

My guess (and hope) is this tour adds a Shoreline or Berkeley Greek date on this tour. Winwood's been on fire for a few years, and has a really smoking band these days. And Petty and the Heartbreakers laid flat at Bonnaroo 2006 so I'm game anytime they wanna play. There's holes in the schedule to allow a SF area visit.

I caught him at SPAC the last time thru. That place is one of the nicest places to see a show.

the thing with Petty is this - once youve seen him 3 times, the thrill is gone. 80% the same songs. All great, but the Heartbreakers arent really a band to blow you out of your shoes after that first experience.. . . now, that FIRST time, excellent

I caught the ABB/Tom Petty show at SPAC. I went to see ABB but Tom Petty's show really surprised me. They didn't half-ass it at all. They sounded really good. I'm glad I got to see them once because I never will again because of high ticket prices and large crowds.

Could I buy a ticket for half price if I only went to see Winwood? I wouldn't pay to see Tom petty, He's a capable musician and song writer, just not my cup of tea. Winwood I could listen to for a long time. About Time.

I think he may hit red rocks. I saw a tour list that said Colorado is a possibility; it may be that Red Rocks doesn't release their concert dates until closer to the show. Keepin' my fingers crossed.

Just tried to get tix for this show (at an ice arena with bad sound no less)... $97 each, plus ~$20 each in service fees, plus $40 to be allowed to buy into the presale... $275 for two mid-level tickets... what's up with that???

fun fact: Steve Winwood plays organs on Hendrix's Electric Ladyland.

another fun fact: If you live in a state that has a primary this tuesday, you'll feel better about yourself if you vote.
