Phil Lesh will appear at the American Red Cross Blood Services in Los Angeles to encourage fans and the community to donate blood. In appreciation for their donation, all those who attend will receive an autographed poster courtesy of Phil Lesh as part of his continuing effort to encourage blood donations. Lesh has been appearing at local community blood banks throughout the year in conjunction with his Odyssey Summer Tour, which features Phil Lesh and Friends who will make a stop at The Greek Theatre on June 27.

In 1998, Phil Lesh was diagnosed with liver disease; the result of Lesh’s contact with the hepatitis C virus some thirty years previous. Lesh’s condition worsened considerably, and finally in December 1998, the bassist required a liver transplant. Buoyed by the unprecedented show of support and positive healing vibes directed towards him by the Deadhead community, Lesh’s recovery was miraculous, and only 4 months later, he returned to the concert stage with an all star band reviving the jam band phenomenon. Lesh has used his return to the stage as a pulpit to not only spread incredible musical vibrations but to also use his celebrity to help others in need of organ transplants.
