Cover Alert | J Roddy Walston And The Business Tackle Little Richard

Last week in his Weekly RecommNeds column Aaron Stein declared J. Roddy Walston & The Business’ long-awaited sophomore album, Essential Tremors, “one of the best straight-up rock and roll albums of 2013.” We couldn't agree more with the lofty claim from our esteemed colleague. The Baltimore-based band plays a particularly raucous brand of boozy, barroom rock that is full of Southern boogie and crunchy classic-rock guitar riffs, all highlighted by Walston’s aggressive piano pounding that channels both Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard.

So it should come as no surprise that during a recent swing through the SiriusXM studios to promote their new record the band choose to cover a tune from Little Richard’s influential body of work – "Lucille." For their take on the iconic song, J. Roddy Walston & The Business ratchet things up to eleven, delivering a blistering garage-rock version of it. Let’s check it out:
