SPRINGSTEEN STARTS EUROPEAN TOUR
WITH MARATHON SHOW IN NORWAY
Legendary rockers Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked off the latest
leg of their Wrecking Ball Tour tonight in Oslo, Norway. The show marked the return of
guitarist Steven Van Zandt to the fold after he missed the band's Australian Tour to tape
episodes of his TV show Lilyhammer.
As he's done a few times in the past year, Springsteen treated fans who lined up early and
entered the venue at doors to a short solo set. The pre-show performance contained four
songs including rarities "All That Heaven Will Allow" and "The Fever," both of which were
tour debuts. Once the band took the stage, The Boss turned over the stage to Van Zandt who
led the group through a song made famous by Frank Sinatra - "My Kind Of Town." Van Zandt
changed the words of the tune to reference Lillehammer instead of Chicago.
Springsteen's main set ran two hours and 45 minutes and contained a tour debut cover of
"Follow That Dream" by Elvis Presley as well as a take on "Prove It All Night" that
featured the recently returned blazing guitar solo at the beginning known as the "'78
Intro." The Boss also dipped into his bag of rarities for "Better Days" and "She's The
One," which were mixed in among tour staples.
Unbelievably, professionally-shot footage of the first 12 minutes of the show including
"My Kinda Town" as sung by Van Zandt has already surfaced.
Here's the setlist from tonight's Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band show.
