Moonalice Fall Tour

Moonalice is a new Bay Area band of veteran players and old friends looking to explore new territory together. The high-energy group is composed of G.E. Smith (Bob Dylan, Saturday Night Live) on guitar, Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna) on bass, Barry Sless (Phil Lesh, David Nelson Band) on guitar and pedal steel, Pete Sears (Jefferson Starship, Hot Tuna) on keys, Ann McNamee (Flying Other Brothers) on vocals and percussion, Roger McNamee (Flying Other Brothers) on guitar and vocals, and Jim Sanchez (Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John) on drums.

Moonalice's music is an eclectic brew of rock, roots, and rhythm-and-blues, peppered with a healthy dose of improvisation and played with some serious chops.

While the band has only started touring this year, they've already made many well-received festival appearances including a sun-drenched set at San Francisco's colossal and high profile Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park just over a week ago. Other recent outings included Wavy Gravy's Summer of Love Revival, The Grateful Garcia Gathering, and the Sausalito Arts Festival. The band also played a benefit show with Hot Tuna for David Smith, who founded the Height Asbury Free Clinic.

Moonalice is heading out this week for a run of twelve shows and is looking forward to more musical adventures and festival appearances next year. The band's fall dates start Thursday, October 18 at GoodFoot Lounge in Portland, OR and wrap up on November 4 at Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis, MD. The run will also include a festival appearance at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, OH on October 27 with other bands such as Particle, Ekoostik Hookah, and Great American Taxi. Don't miss this great new band on tour this fall!

What's the scoop on the guys? Has anyone been to one of their shows over the summer? Originals, covers, or a mix of both?

I recognize all of these old school players.

I find it really weird, that the first I hear about this group, is the announcement of the fall tour??

is that because they kept it a secret until the tour was finalized?

or, is it because, they did not play any venues prior to this announcement?

I wonder :)

Hey Miles,

Thats because the band has only been touring since early this year. Many of the same members used to be in The Flying Other Brothers.

Moonalice brings back the music! Originals are awsome, and their covers (imho) of the Grateful Dead freak'n rock! Don't miss out if they come to your town!

This band would be awesome without the McNamee's. With them leading the show and show casing their original material, they'd have to pay ME to see them again. A lot.
