SEVEN DAYS BY THE BAY

Once again there is no lack of great live music that you can go out and dance to or be mesmerized by. I've checked various sources and come up with this list of live performances that is certainly far from comprehensive:

Thursday | April 12th
Jamfiends are amped up for three straight evenings with Steve Kimock Band at the Great American Music Hall. The sold out shows that run through Saturday feature Kimock with Bobby Vega, Rodney Holmes and special guests. Living legend Merle Haggard will be joined by Ramblin' Jack Elliott at Gershwin Theater in San Francisco for a benefit for Caheed Daycare Center. Ten Ton Chicken and New Monsoon will be at the Last Day Saloon for a promising looking jamband double bill. Brass Monkey Brass Band will funk you up at the Blue Lamp. Hotel Utah has "Best of the Divas" with Einstone, Laura Chandler, Roberta Donnay and Heather Combs. Voodoo Lounge hosts the Pan-Fried Folk series with Elin Jr., Erika Luckett, Holly Figueroa and Kellee Bradley. The Fillmore has the Psychedelic Furs. Taos Hum will be in San Rafael, tearing it up at Fourth Street Tavern. Tea Leaf Green and King Harvest will play at 19 Broadway in Fairfax. Joe Jackson is at the Luther Burbank Center in Santa Rosa. Box Set and Chuck Prophet are at the Sweetwater in Mill Valley. The Palms Playhouse in Davis has Ray Wylie Hubbard and Mary Gauthier. Flora Purim and Airto Moreira are at Yoshi's in Oakland through Sunday.

Friday | April 13th
The amazing blues guitarist Kenny Neal and his band will play at the Boom Boom Room on Friday and Saturday. David Grisman Quintet will play some Dawg Music for you at the Palace of Fine Arts Theater, another Mystery Machine Productions show. Mood Food is at the Paradise Lounge, an early 'happy hour' show (6 pm). Alien Love Stock and Jim Campilongo are at the Paradise Lounge. Tongue & Groove has Los Moscosos. King Harvest and Ten Pound Brown are at Hotel Utah. Stymie and the Pimp Jones Luv Orchestra plays the Last Day Saloon. Shane McGowan and the Popes are at the Fillmore. Jose Neto will play at 19 Broadway. The Tradewinds in Cotati hosts Tea Leaf Green. New Monsoon is up in Bolinas at Smiley's. Paco de Lucia and his Septet will play Zellerbach Hall (and Santa Cruz on Tuesday the 17th at Santa Cruz Civic). The fabulous Ray Wylie Hubbard is at the Freight & Salvage with Mary Gauthier. The Jupiter in Berkeley has Mr. Rosewater. The Ivy Room welcomes back Red Meat. Henfling's in Ben Lomond hosts Smokin' Grass. Mover is at Fuel 44 in San Jose. Most Chill Slackmob is at the Elbo Room and on Saturday plays Smiley's in Bolinas.

Saturday | April 14th
High Sierra will present a wonderful evening with Smokin' Grass and Tea Leaf Green. !Tang will be at the Elbo Room. Ten Ton Chicken plays a party at Fort Mason, see their JamBase entry for instructions on how to obtain the location. The Mermen are at Slim's. Dinosaur rockers the Marshall Tucker Band will be at McNear's Mystic Theater in Petaluma. Mover will be at the Ivy Room in Albany. Alvin Youngblood Hart is at Bluesville in Oakland. Peri's in Fairfax has New Monsoon. Bitches Brew with opener, Songo, are at Blakes in Berkeley. Dix Bruce and Jim Nunally will play on a bill with Eddie & Martha Adcock at the Freight & Salvage. Euphonic Tonic is at the Terrace in Soquel.

Sunday | April 15th
Stuck in a Groove and Shady Lady are at the Hotel Utah. Beth Custer y Dona Luz 30 Besos are at The Make-Out Room. Fleeting Trance plays at the Old Western Saloon in Pt. Reyes Station with an early 7 pm start time.

Monday | April 16th
Dave Eshelman's Jazz Garden Big Band will be at Yoshi's, a CD release party for "Milagro's Journey". Kevin Russell is at Biscuits & Blues. Ezra Gale Trio is at the North Star Restaurant in San Francisco.

Tuesday | April 17th
Alvin Youngblood Hart is at Biscuits & Blues in San Francisco. Bob Schneider will be at Foley's Cellar. Vivendo de Pao is at the Elbo Room. DivaBands is at the Hotel Utah with Small Wonder, Paradigm and Kenni. Kooken & Hoomen, Cas McGee and Danilo Lopez are at Cafe du Nord. Ezra Gale Trio will play Amnesia. Brigitte DeMeyer and her band will be at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley (also Brigitte will play with her trio at Hear Music on Fourth Street in Berkeley at 2 pm on Sunday, April 15th). Bluegrass Gold at the Sweetwater in Mill Valley features Peter Rowan and Eddie & Martha Adcock. David Nelson Band will be at the Powerhouse in Sebastopol. The Faraway Brothers play Fourth Street Tavern in San Rafael. Rick Shea and Sherry Austin are at Henfling's in Ben Lomond.

Wednesday | April 18th
Beth Custer y Dona Luz 30 Besos will be at Bruno's. "Critical Grass" at the Hotel Utah has the David Thom Band, All Wrecked Up and Dark Hollow. Ted Ekman and Ashbury Park play at the Last Day Saloon. Rick Shea and Brantley Kearns are at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley. You can catch a great free show with the Ominous Seapods at the Catalyst Atrium in Santa Cruz.
