"Whooo hoooo!" to quote a friend! Lots of great stuff for you live music fans again this week around the Bay Area. As usual I've scoured the listings in an attempt to get all the good stuff down in this sometimes weekly column...

Thursday - April 5th

Keller Williams will play at the Great American Music Hall. Especially if you've never seen this guy live, GO SEE KELLER! The Faraway Brothers are at the Blue Lamp in SF. Jack West is at Bruno's. Tim and Greg of The Mother Hips are at Foley's. Brenda Boykin and Home Cookin' plays one of their regular Boom Boom Room gigs. Dark Hollow is at the Atlas Cafe. At Yoshi's you can catch the wonderful George Shearing, through Sunday. The David Thom Band is at 19 Broadway and the great Rodney Crowell is up at McNear's Mystic in Petaluma. In Santa Cruz the good folks at Mountain Music Productions have a killer double-bill with Hanuman and Drums and Tuba. Garnet Rogers will wow you with his amazing guitar work and beautiful songs at Henfling's in Ben Lomond.

Friday - April 6th

Will Bernard & Motherbug opens for Garaj Mahal at a High Sierra Presents show at Broadway Studios. Should be a good un! Carlos Washington and Giant People bring their "New Century Soul" to Tongue & Groove for two nights. Cold Front opens the first night of these Sunset Promotions shows and Hanuman opens on Saturday. Mingus Amungus is at the Elbo Room. The Zydeco Flames play the Boom Boom Room. Zoe Ellis and her band are at Butterfly SF. Second Set and Luce play the Hotel Utah. In the East Bay you can catch Henry Clement and the Gumbo Band at Eli's Mile High Club. Counterpoint and Estradasphere are at Blake's. The amazing Garnet Rogers will be at Freight & Salvage. sexfresh opens for Soultree at the Ivy Room. The Catalyst in Santa Cruz has Rodney Crowell. Babatunde Lea and Friends are at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center. The Mother Hips play Palookville. Up in Davis the jammin' guys from Ten Ton Chicken will play starting at 8 pm, rain or shine, at the Domes on UC Davis campus.

Saturday - April 7th

What a night this one is! Mystery Machine Productions has a great show with Olu Dara and Samba Ngo at the Justice League. Boom Boom Room hosts, for their debut performance in town, Southern California funkateers Particle. Chupacabra plays a High Sierra show at the Elbo Room. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are at the Warfield. Vinyl will groove you at the Last Day Saloon. Carlos Washington, night two, is at the Tongue & Groove. Aterciopelados and Tijuana No! (Tijuana No Con Ceci) will be at Slim's. Jim Campilongo plays at 2 pm at Amoeba. Jenna Mammina will sing for you at Circadia in SF. For reggae fans, Eek-a-Mouse is at the Maritime with The Congos. The Soft Boys and Young Fresh Fellows are at the Fillmore. Cannonball will play Bruno's. In the East Bay, Scott Amendola's new band, Crater, is at the Jupiter. Paul Pena and Zulu Exiles will play at Ashkenaz. Amy Denio is at Mills College Concert Hall in Oakland. Dave Gleason's Wasted Days play the Ivy Room. DON'T go to Blakes for Bitches Brew (as per the Guardian and the SF Weekly) as they are NOT THERE this weekend, try Saturday 4/14 for the Brew krewe at Blakes. Vivendo de Pao plays Fuel 44 in San Jose. Something Else is at the Terrace in Soquel. Roy Rogers and the Delta Rhythm Kings are at 19 Broadway in Fairfax.

Sunday - April 8th

Acoustic Guitar Magazine called Martin Simpson the "...guitarist of the decade". Martin will be at the Freight & Salvage with Jessica Radcliffe. He is extremely talented and totally worth catching. Hanuman is at the Inn of the Beginning in Cotati. Mem Shannon and the Membership are at the Los Gatos Bar & Grill.

Monday - April 9th

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones are at Palookaville. Peanut and the Apocalypse are at the Boom Boom Room. Joe Jackson plays a sold out show at the Fillmore. Henry Rollins does his spoken word performance at Palace of Fine Arts Theater. Ezra Gale Trio is at the North Star Restaurant.

Tuesday - April 10th

Flora Purim and Airto Moreira (Flora and Airto) will be at Yoshi's through April 15th, Sunday. Hotel Utah hosts DivaBands with Kristin Battersby, LizAnah, Holly Figueroa and Kellee Bradley. Joe Jackson is at the Warfield. Kooken & Hoomen plays at Cafe du Nord. Ezra Gale Trio is at Amnesia. Mem Shannon and the Membership play Sweetwater in Mill Valley.

Wednesday - April 11th

Kenny Neal will rip it up at the Palms in Davis. Five Point Plan is at the Boom Boom Room. mood food plays a free show at the Catalyst. DivaBands will be in Mill Valley at Sweetwater with Roberta Donnay, Susan Z, Kellee Bradley, Holly Figueroa and Hopscotch. Cannonball is at the Jupiter in Berkeley.

Get on those dancin' shoes, don't forget your earplugs and GO SEE LIVE MUSIC!!!
