USA & European Tour Dates In The Works!

Bad Brains
The first proper Bad Brains studio album in over a decade, Build A Nation, is now scheduled to arrive in stores on June 26, 2007 on Megaforce Records. The album features all the original members of the group: HR, Darryl Jenifer, Dr. Know and Earl Hudson.

Produced by long time fan, Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, Build A Nation is a return to form for the band that helped define American Punk and Hardcore music. It also represents the first studio album, outside Beastie Boys albums, to be recorded at the Beastie Boys' Oscilloscope laboratories and studio compound in New York City. "This album started in my studio with primal, classic Bad Brains intentions," commented bassist Darryl Jenifer. "I told Adam I was thinking about a new Brains' record, then Adam said 'Word! You should let me produce that shit, son! I'll smoke those other cats that tried to produce y'all. I'll make you sound real!' I said 'Word!' And the rest is history," continued Jenifer. "Adam took it in a direction that captured the S/T vibe, but with an honest, modern touch."

"The Brains are one of most powerful and unique bands in the world," stated Adam Yauch. "They have been a huge influence on me, and it was an honor to work with them on this record."

Considered by many to be the "holy grail" of punk rock, the Bad Brains iconic legacy is best defined by their frenetic and legendary live shows. They are one of the definitive American punk groups who garner the same respect as the Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Clash, and The Ramones. They brought a new dimension to music by melding punk and reggae into an innovative style that has yet-to-be copied. Build A Nation returns the band to their early roots with a raw, analog-driven chaotic album.

"The thing about a lot of punk is the feeling that bands have is of apathy and hopelessness. Whereas Bad Brains lyrical content had a lot of hope in it," commented Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day.

A Bad Brains worldwide tour will commence around the release, including several major festival appearances both in the USA and Europe. Sasquatch Festival on May 27 will see both Bad Brains and Beastie Boys take the stage. Details will be announced shortly.

Black Flag/Circle Jerks/Germs...=LA Hardcore. Bad Brains/Minor Threat/Scream...=DC Hardcore.

I dug the reggae direction that Bad Brains headed into but the last time I saw them there was just way too much of that and not enough intensity. When they played the stuff off I Against I or Rock For Light it was rip your face off tightness. It would be nice to hear them get back to that.

Hopefully HR can stay away from the crack long enough to pull off a successful tour. When he walks off the stage after about five songs forget it, the momentum of the show is shot and he comes back out paranoid and out of it.

Ian Mackaye and Minor Threat were the best. Conscious lyrics, self aware straight edge!

BAD BRAINS! Darryl Jenifer has an album coming out then too... I met Darryl the second night they played for its closing. He was super nice, and even gave me tips on playing Electric Bass. We talked about the D.C. GoGo scene in which he said Chuck Brown was a key figure. I met him again at Lion's Den in February where he along with Dr. Know played some deep Dub where Darryl could be seen gazing into the lights in a trance-like state. He was really thrilled about these upcoming two Albums. Gotta pick them up and keep Sailin' On with Bad Brains!

What's awesome about HR is that he has no problem cussing people out who are talking during his sets.

The Bad Brains imho are the greatest band of all time. Long time fan. Been seeing them since the early 90's when they had original singer from faith no more and Mackie on drums. Then they had that other dude from the Rise album, toured for a while, then stopped. Came back years later with HR around 2000. man, that was INTENSE!!! can't wait for new album and TOUR!

I Love Bad Brains, I saw them live last year HR was horrid. After 35 minutes he tried leaving a packed house. The crowd was freaking! I thought the promoter was going to get killed. They were great, once.....but since HR was jailed in Lawrence for bashing that guy in the head with his mic stand they have been mediocre at best.
