The High Sierra Music Festival (a.k.a. the Best Fest In The West) added moe., Robert Walter's 20th Congress, The Slip, and Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey this week.
Last week, HSMF confirmed The Steve Kimock Band to the lineup, as well as Spearhead and the Keller Williams Trio featuring Tye North (formerly of Leftover Salmon) and Dave Watts (Motet). Keller Williams has
been a part of the High Sierra family for many years now, and we all thought it would be fun to present him in a new way. He will be recording with the trio later this spring, and will perform three sets at the festival. Should be quite a treat!
Also confirmed is Mike Clark's Prescription Renewal featuring Charlie Hunter, Skerik, and
Robert Walter -- this is going to blow you away. A true all-star band, with an
impeccable pedigree, now much more comfortable with it's second tour. Mike Clark was the original drummer of the
Headhunters, virtuoso guitarist Charlie Hunter speaks for himself, Skerik (Critters Buggin') on saxes will literally blow you away, and Robert Walter (formerly with Greyboy Allstars, currently touring with his own 20th Congress) on keys and more...whew!! This show will be a special treat for you 4-day pass holders because they're performing Thursday night and is destined to leave you speechless!
One brand new confirmation is Olu Dara, whose blend of Mississippi blues, traditional jazz, and African rhythms will be a welcome addition to this year's High Sierra. Other new confirmations include a host of great talent on the Showcase and Americana stages (see below). The "Lineup page" on High Sierra's website is up with performers' dates, and will always be updated as soon as new acts are announced, so check it out. The High Sierra staff is working away on booking the finest talent available, so stay tuned for more pleasant surprises soon!
The festival boasts three continuous daytime stages and multiple nightime events creating an overwhelming array of musical treats to satisify any serious music lover's desire for non-stop musical immersion. Combine all of this the music with beautiful on site camping in the pristine Sierra Nevada mountains, and you've got summer camp for adults! With more acts to be announced, High Sierra 2001 is already a 'be sure not to miss' event.
