  • 5/16/2008 - 5/26/2008 Seaside Jazz Festival Seaide, FL: Seaside Amphitheater The Merchants of Seaside will give jazz lovers a rare treat this spring, producing not one, but two weekends of top- notch music at the Seaside Jazz Festival: A Journey through Jazz. The festival headliner, The Neville Brothers, will perform May 26 at 6pm. “We are all very excited, we know we’ve hit the right note when everyone benefits,” said Kristin Kramin-Banker of the Merchants of Seaside. “Ever since the devastating hurricane season of 2005, the merchants here at Seaside have wanted to show our support for the musicians along the Emerald Coast and also our neighbors in New Orleans. This festival not only offers them a fantastic showcase, it also provides jazz fans with two weekends filled with world- class music.” According to Banker, the first festival weekend, Friday, May 16 through Sunday, May 18th will feature Latin Grammy winner Nestor Torres, The Rebirth Brass Band, Shamarr Allen, Ted Shumate, and Jesse McBride. “May is always a beautiful month at Seaside and now, along with soft, springtime sunshine and warm, beach breezes, music will fill the air all weekend,” said Banker. The bands will perform in the town’s well-known amphitheater. The Memorial Day weekend line up will shine with stars such as the Neville Brothers, The Hot 8 Brass Band, Glen David Andrews, Little Freddie King, Dayve Stewart, Marva Wright, and Walter "Wolfman" Washington. Bands will perform in the amphitheater from Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26. “Many of these famous performers have suffered hardships due to Katrina, said Banker. “We are so pleased to host them in our Journey through Jazz as they continue on their road back to success.” Tickets for the first weekend cost $100 and provide access to all performances. The Memorial weekend tickets cost $150 and also give access to all performances.
