Hello there, we're The Muddy Roses: a foot stompin' firecracker of a good time. Our sound is a large helping of classic country with a side of gritty folk and swampy blues, all finished off with a dash of feminine wiles. With soaring three-part harmonies, tight instrumentation, and sassy humor, we reckon you are guaranteed to have your hands clappin' and your heart poundin'. Our members are seasoned musicians with years of experience, having played with the likes of Link Wray, Eddie Money, and various members of Quicksilver Messenger Service and The Steve Miller Band, to name a few, as well as contributing to hundreds of performances and sessions for a variety of musical projects.
Our set list is firmly planted on the shoulders of American female singers and songwriters of the early to mid-20th century - gals who had something frank to say about their feelings and did it with a wink and a smile. From tough blues matriarchs like Memphis Minnie and Ethel Waters, to Grand Ole Opry favorites like the Carter Sisters and Kitty Wells, to darlings of the Nashville sound like Loretta Lynn and Wanda Jackson, these women expressed their frustrations, woes and triumphs through song, many of them long before "Women's Lib" became a mainstream cultural movement.
We wish to pay homage to women who are willing to push boundaries, challenge stereotypes, hold their heads high and carry a big stick, albeit with poise and finesse, as they traverse the turbulent territory of emotion and relationships.
