California born, Okie grown, and Seattle-settling, Chelsea Coleman is a rising Folk star. She has been a songwriting machine since she was three years old when she discovered the endless possibilities of the piano, and grew up to the gentle melodies and soothing harmonies of Simon and Garfunkel, Paul Stookey, and Cat Stevens, as well as the heartfelt and sassy storytelling of Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, The Judds, and Mary Chapin Carpenter. She started playing guitar and writing her brand of thoughtful, honest, captivating lyrics when she was 12.
That year she won first place in a piano composition contest and received a standing ovation upon performing an original piano and vocals piece in a packed performing arts center during a local summer songwriting program. She continued writing and performed in church choirs and bands throughout high school. After going through a rough marriage and divorce, and taking a long break from performing, Chelsea quickly emerged into the Tulsa music scene in April of 2010, playing for standing-room-only crowds at coffee shops and recording her debut EP, Lullabies and Leavin' Songs. She packed up and moved to the Seattle area in September to pursue a career in music and a new relationship! She's currently diving in to the Northwest music scene, and planning a west coast tour!
