Six years in the making, von Grey is what happens when you take talented, classically trained string musicians and let them loose to explore new boundaries in country, pop, rock and more. Combining smokin' violin solos and rich 3- and 4-part harmonies, von Grey delivers songs equally at home with tight guitar licks and rich cello solos--all infused with the youthful energy of four sisters aged 10-15.
Though growing up in the 2000’s, von Grey evokes an earlier time when harmony-driven, singer-songwriter groups like the Beatles, Eagles and Fleetwood Mac revolutionized pop music. 15-year-old Kathryn, 13-year-old Annika, 12-year-old Fiona and 10-year-old Petra have vastly different personalities, but their love of music ties them together in a beautifully woven tapestry of creativity that radiates from their souls.
As the group develops, the sisters are racking up fans and major recognition for their musical talents. In 2008, Annika won the top prize in the U.S. 12-and-under Irish fiddler’s competition. Annika and Fiona shared the stage at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre with world famous Irish fusion band, The Chieftains, in early 2009. Through 2010 von Grey have become a popular fixture among the Atlanta live music scene, playing venues like Red Light Cafe and Smith's Olde Bar. In August, this talented young band took center stage as the opener for Sarah Mclachlan's Chastain Park show in Atlanta. They have continued to perform at a variety of venues and festivals in the Southeast.
Kathryn, Annika, Fiona and Petra are currently writing and recording new songs for their upcoming album, which they plan to release under their own imprint, MusicVG, LLC. Whether it’s their riveting song "Eyes on Your Honey", or their vibrant feel for melody, harmony and deeply personal expression in original pieces like "Pretty Little Girl” or “Life Is Just a Melody”, von Grey continues to win over fans…one heart at a time.
