Flaming Telepaths is a rock trio in the San Francisco Bay area creating a buzz tearing up the music of Blue Öyster Cult. The Telepaths emphasize the improvisational side of BOC, stretching out the jams and pushing the peaks, so audiences are treated to an experience in the moment. The jams take place within BOC's artfully crafted tunes, spanning their career from the big hits to the gems for dedicated fans, including Don't Fear The Reaper, E.T.I., The Red and the Black, Godzilla, Cities On Flame, Burnin' For You, Astronomy, Buck's Boogie, Dominance and Submission, Veteran of the Psychic Wars, Take Me Away, The Subhuman, Harvester of Eyes, Revenge of Vera Gemini, Then Came the Last Days of May, and - of course - Flaming Telepaths.
With a wide range of experience and accolades, each member draws on past as well as other current projects to lay down the riff-heavy blazing rock of Flaming Telepaths.
Jeff Zittrain (guitar, vox) currently spends his other musical time playing his original material in the popular Z-Trane Electric Band. He was also the primary songwriter and lead guitarist of power trio Famous Last Words, releasing two critically acclaimed albums garnering an All Music Guide 4 Stars, a CD Baby Editors Pick, a song on NBC TV, and features and reviews in magazines across the country.
Rob Rothfarb (bass, vox) played bass in rock and jam bands in Florida for several years before moving to California and laying down the bottom end most recently for the Bay Area jam band, The American Economy.
Greg Van Ess (drums) made a name for himself in the 80's with South Bay bands Panzer, Modern Weapons, and the blues band Shuffle Board before embarking on a business career which took him all over the world. He recently returned to the Bay Area to reclaim his drumming passion (and his soul) with the Telepaths and Z-Trane Electric Band.
