Armed with a handful of their own songs, they made their debut in late August that same summer at an open-mic night, marking their 1st time to play together in public. Since that night, they have been consistently gaining momentum and have played frequently at a majority of clubs in the Syracuse area including Station 58, The Lost Horizon, Mac's Bad Art Bar, Schultzies in the Plaza and the Half Penny Pub. Dave Spanfelder, the owner of DS Humphrey's in Oswego, NY posted this comment about Augustine: "They are one of Syracuse's hottest, new bands!" They were asked by Time Warner Cable to represent TWC in the Red Cross Corporate Battle of the Bands held at the prestigious Landmark Theater in Syracuse, on April 24, 2009. They closed out the line-up of 14 bands that night bringing the nearly maximum capacity crowd to their feet. Donna Reynolds, a reporter for Syracuse.com (The Post-Standard newspaper) had this to say: "From the opening notes of OCC's Onondaga Treblemakers to the final kick butt set by Time Warner's Augustine, I was thoroughly entertained." Some of the more notable bands they have opened for have been: the 2008 SAMMY award winners Torment the Vein, Candid, and National recording artists Brand New Sin. They began to play their own headlining shows after only 4 months on the scene. With a sound somewhere between Fuel, Shinedown, and the Gin Blossoms, their melodic flavor of rock is appealing and easy to listen to. Their constantly evolving showmanship and stage presence is entertaining and dynamic making it difficult to not tap your foot, bob your head and sing along. This band is simply just fun to watch. Augustine continues to write new songs. For 2009, we will expand beyond the Syracuse area, playing shows at venues throughout New York State and the surrounding area.
