StrungOver formed in the fall of 1999 and were first seen performing on the streets of Santa Cruz. Since then they have continued to gain momentum playing large venues spanning from the Bay area to the far Northwest and as far East as Colorado. The boys were hard at work last summer playing music festivals throughout the California and the Northwest (including: High Sierra Music Fest, Mountainaire, High Camp, strickly Bluegrass, Salmonfest, Hornings Hideout) and has had the fortune of sharing the stage with such acts as Sam Bush, Yonder Mountain and Leftover Salmon to name a few. StrungOver also performed as a 2003 IBMA showcase band (in Louisville, KY), at the prestigious IBMA trade show. The band's repertoire varies with many original tunes, countless traditionals, as well as jazz and gypsy Dawg-type numbers. Their innovative approach to tackling the bluegrass genre has attracted a varied group of listeners and surprised many who did not previously consider themselves to be bluegrass fans. StrungOver has recently finished their debut studio recording
Avocado Shakedown
which showcases the band's songwriting as well as their musicianship. The CD features 15 original songs and includes special guests Laurie Lewis and Rob Ickes.
