The Mojo Possum Revue formed in the winter of 2007-2008. The new group merged from the bands Copper Possum and Mojo Filter, forming a whole new sound full of various styles. The band, looking to make people move as their number one priority, began playing a lot of boogie music, including the rare hill country blues. MPR has been lucky to have the hill country door opened to them as they are now backing up DuWayne Burnside (son of the late, legendary R.L. Burnside) and David Kimbrough, Jr. (son of the late Junior Kimbrough) as well as playing many shows themselves. In just six months, the boys in the band have enjoyed playing some very prestigious venues, including the Young Avenue Deli (Memphis, TN), The North Miss. Hill Country Picnic (Potts Camp, MS), Proud Larry’s (Oxford, MS), and The World Grotto (Knoxville, TN). A dedicated following attends the shows regularly, looking for new songs and improvisations from the musicians. The band is currently seeking out new venues in new places.
