Roy combines country blues, ragtime, blue grass and folk music in a way that captures the essence of the front-porch bluesman of days gone by. He learned to play from blues legends like Reverend Gary Davis and Pink Anderson and has entertained audiences since the blues and folk revival of the 1960's. He's shared the stage with Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles, Doc Watson and B.B. King himself at venues ranging from B.B.'s blues club in Manhattan to MerleFest in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. However, his long-time friend, Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna has best described Roy when he said "Nobody writes in the idiom better than Roy Book Binder. He is a master player, singer, writer and teller of tales."
