Seattle's The Cave Singers perform dramatic, forlorn and occasionally triumphant music in a wonderfully autumnal haze. Their second album, Welcome Joy, is a gorgeous, rich folky stew hitting musical touchstones from Led Zeppelin III (think Bron Yr Aur Stomp) to Iron and Wine, CCR, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver and Will Oldham, with a healthy dollop of the more mournful Steve Nicks songs from Fleetwood Mac's mid-70's period.
Produced by Colin Stewart (Black Mountain, Destroyer, Ladyhawk), Welcome Joy shows the trio picking up where they left off after Invitation Songs, the band's beloved debut. The Cave Singers are still creating honest folk music with a punk rock approach, but Welcome Joy is texturally richer and more fully realized this its predecessor.
Welcome Joy features the additional vocal talents of Amber Webber (Black Mountain, Lightning Dust) and Ashley Webber (Lightning Dust). The Cave Singers have previously shared the stage with the likes of Band Of Horses, Black Mountain, Death Cab For Cutie, Department Of Eagles, Dr. Dog, Shearwater and Lighting Dust, to name a few.
