“…innate musicality and extraordinary, cross-genre reach” ~Washington Post
As a child, Richard Bona built many of his own instruments, including a guitar made of cords strung across an old motorcycle gas tank. Villagers in his native Minta, Cameroon quickly noticed the immense talent and soon he was playing ceremonies, festivals and local church gatherings. Upon hearing the music of Jaco Pastorius, his aspirations turned to electric bass, on which he has since developed to an unparalleled degree of mastery. After gathering momentum in a slew of heralded sideman efforts, he has become an accomplished bandleader known for his funky bass lines and electrifying vocals.
