The Barn Rats
The Barn Rats Not far from downtown Suwannee, Georgia, Everett's Music Barn has been picking it's way through Saturday nights since 1970, when the barn was first built. Much more than just a barn, it attracts bluegrass pickers and fans from all over the north Georgia area and beyond. As an addition to the house where the brothers started in 1966, The Barn is now home to rows of church pews seating around 170 people. On any given Saturday night, the Everetts offer the finest in local talent, as one can hear bluegrass jams emanating from the house. While The Barn features bluegrass acts from all over such as IIIrd Tyme Out, Jim & Jessie, The Country Gentlemen, The Reno Brothers, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Randall Hylton, Lost and Found, Larry Stephenson, Larry Sparks, Larry Cordle, JD Crowe and The New South, The Stevens Sisters and David Davis and the Warrior River Boys, they also have their own staff band, The Everett Brothers, who perform with lots of local talent who visit and play. Guitarist and singer Scott Morgan would always refer to regulars at the bluegrass barn as barn rats- hence the band name. Many friendships have been forged at The Barn, including all of the members of The Barn Rat Review. On any given Saturday one can always find a Barn Rat or two at Everett’s, passing on this great style of music.
